The colour is amber (15 EBC), the liquid clear. The two finger head is compact and beige, it sinks down to a thin lid leaving lots of fine lacing.
The smell is smooth and malty with mild sweet notes. Notes of bread, dried apricots and crispbread. Mild bitterness with hints of toffee and orange peel.
The taste is smooth with crispbread, rye bread and dried fruits. Citric peels and floral notes in the background. Medium body. The aftertaste got smooth bitterness with fragile hints of pulp and green fruits. The finish is bitter-sweet with some caramel.
The carbonation is a bit strong for a pale ale – lots of mid-sized long-lived bubbles. The liquid is semi-smooth.
A pleasant and very English pale ale. Some off-flavours, but they are on a very low scale.
