So we're just adding random dive bars to BA now...sigh. Sure "they serve beer" but there are hundreds of better beer places in town. This is a classic slashie bar and package goods store, since 1956 according to the nice hand painted window sign. About 20 basic bottled craft beers and 20 macros, zero taps. No draft beer... That's the first clue that it's not really worth BA's time.

Atmosphere is dark and minimal, flatscreen tv's above the bar, a few tables in front. To the left is a small store, and the bar is in the right. A small group of regulars were watching the Loyola basketball game, naturally. Talk centered on the murder of a college student that happened around the corner the night before. Yeah. It was sketchy in the 90's, and still is.

They had Two Hearted, Winter White, Daisy Cutter, Anti Hero, Rambler IPA, and inexplicably BCS for $12 a bottle. Pretty cool if you live in the Loyola dorms I guess. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The store had a limited selection, some Bells, Rev cans, Daisy Cutter. Maybe 50 beers max. Overall this is a questionable add to the database. To the obvious regular who likely wound up here after googling Bruno's, sorry to rustle your jimmies, but this is BeerAdvocate not BarAdvocate. No one's comparing it to the Hopleaf. Nice straw man you got there.

So, yea... We're rating dive bars now. But really, what's the difference between Bruno's and Hopleaf? Well let me tell you. I've been to both places multiple times. I've never had to wait to sit down at Bruno's. Hopleaf? I've had to wait to get in. What about the service? Marty at Bruno's knows my drink as I walk in. A beer of some sort and a Bulleit neat, which by the way costs less than ten bucks. Hopleaf? Well, they don't really care if I walk in. So yea, we're going to give Bruno's a little bump here on BA. Not because they have 50 beers on tap and 500 bottles. If you want that go to WOB. I do. But when you want a great bartender and great prices, get over it and go to Bruno's. I LOVE this bar.
