Appearance- Pours up a good amount of head which looks to have excellent retention. The head is a medium beige/creamy mocha while the body is a dark chocolate black. The body is opaque. Sheeting extends from the top of the head.

Nose- Delicious- reminiscent of some of the better imperial stouts that I've had. Rich chocolate that has both notes of bitter-sweet and fudge like chocolate. Coffee, caramel, toffee, and vanilla. Lots of raisins and cherry and tiny hints of coconut and butterscotch. Swirling doesn't add much to this already delightful aroma.

Taste- Begins with raisins and the sweeter notes of the chocolate. The raisins are a little vinous and hint at cherry, even some orange and lemon. Robust coffee which is countered by wonderful, fudge brownie notes. Coconut and cherry blend to give these brownie notes the added depth of a macaroon. I realize the line between a strong porter and an imperial stout is thin but this really seems more like an imperial because of the strong (but well rounded) coffee and the woody bitterness which really rein in the sweetness of the front. Just a notch below many of the great imperials that I've had. This is such a good beer that I don't care if it's a porter or stout. So good that it's almost great. The bourbon is quite subtle and flits around the edge with notes of oak and vanilla. It really blends well with the basic flavor notes of this beer. Some oatmeal as well.

Mouthfeel- Between medium and heavy bodied with a slight grittiness which adds to its character.

Drinkability- This is an incredibly dangerous beer. Not only does it show none of its 10%, it's also very cheap. 13 bucks for a growler of such quality seems a steal. If price is the focus, this is one of the best beers I've ever had.

Overall- Very reminiscent of Lil B' but with a little less fudge and a lot more bourbon. This is definitely worth a try and is, without a doubt, my surprise beer of the week.
