Loated right in the heart of town, sure to do good traffic from the surrounding businesses and tourism. Mediocre beer, good service. Big after work crowd

I visited this spot. mostly because of it's location in the part of Philly I was in that day. Nice enough taproom. Has more of a restaurant vibe. Service, quality, and selection were just fine. Not a can't miss spot, but close to a lot of things you're probably doing on a visit. Might as well stop by for a beer.

Located around the corner from Khyber Pass, and a very different kind of place.

Large, fairly open space with plenty of seating and a long, chunky bar. The place just breathes upscale pub in look, but the feel is very relaxed and casual. Beer selection isn't massive, about 8 taps, everything brewed inhouse. Plenty of variety though, with a Vienna lager and an IPA being the staples. The Vienna lager, Fritzie's Lager was also the highlight, a damned fine beer. Focus of the beers seems to be well made and sessionable, even the double IPA wasn't overly powerful. Very good quality overall. Service was great both days I was here, attentive and chatty but without being overbearing.

Food was tasty, with lots to choose from and reasonable portions. I could actually walk out of here after eating!

Overall, a place that I really enjoyed. Not very hyped, as far as I can tell, but the beer is very solid, the food is good and service is great. Stop in if you're in the area!

Craft brewery\pub in the Old City. Very nice addition to the area, which is a good night spot. Place is more of a sports bar than a craft pub. About 10 tap lines of their offerings. Nothing overly exciting but solid nonetheless. I got a flight and did enjoy it. Service was ok. I didn't get food but did see others getting pizza and such. Honestly, there are way better places for food in the area. Overall not a place to go out of the way to visit, but for those along the pier it is a good spot.

The 2nd Story Brewing Company is in a great location in Philly. It had a decent vibe and had plenty of different beers and styles to try. The staff was a little then but still had good service.

Locals will know of course that this is the same space where Triumph was before they closed down. Not much has changed in the layout/atmosphere. There's a nice bar layout, and plenty of seating. Like 20 separate toilets. There's an upstairs, but in nearly 15 years of going here, I still have yet to go up there. Not much has changed with the beer either. They make solid but standard beers, simple and accessible. IPAs, various lagers, rye beers, etc. A good selection of about 10 on at any time. Service is good, but I haven't been there during busy hours. Food is standard, but very good. I had the pulled pork which was a messy, tangy treat. They also have a small but satisfactory kids menu. The key word here is "accessible." You probably won't be blown away by the beers here, but it's a cool hangout. Hop across the street to Eulogy if you get bored.

this is a neat old place right in downtown philly. huge, with a dimly lit wooden featured but charmingly modern taproom on the ground floor, and the brewery upstairs. there is a view to the brew house above the bar where we sat, and a cozy atmosphere in here for how large it is, maybe not the case when its packed, but it was mellow when we were there. we had a tasty hefeweizen and a solid chocolate rye porter as well, but for the most part, the beers seemed safe in here, nothing too outside the box, really a tap list of crowd pleasers and familiar styles. the beers were good though, and im sure they all are, some attention to detail and competence is apparent. the food was decent too, a salad and a soup, both well prepared and fresh tasting, but also a little safe, not quite corporate feeling, but moving in that direction maybe a little bit. the dude behind the bar was nice enough, but totally disengaged and unenthusiastic, neither enhanced nor detracted from our experience here. overall this is a cool place and a space worth seeing, comfortable for a beer and a bite, but there are undoubtedly more adventurous beers to be had in the city if thats what you are looking for...

My second visit to 2nd Story this covers both visits. Love the vibe, lots of room, big bar, TVs to watch the game. Service was good, but not great and the food was better than standard pub fare.

But the beer doesn't meet my expectations. Tried all 10, enjoyed two, a couple more I would have again, but found two as undrinkable and overall the selection doesn't compare to others in town. Certain I will be back due to the location, but will focus my selection.

For what I read on here and what I drank were 2 different views. They mixed up the sampler I got and switched 2 of the beers and to a novice craft drinker, it would have be a turn off. A few of the beers were described as bold in hop flavor yet lacked. The 2 samplers I got had average to below average beer on it. One I could barely even get through. The only beer that was noteworthy was the berliner- nice acidic feel. I had this cheese and nacho dish which did not sit well in my stomach for hours on end with bad indigestion. Our server was slow and seemed more concerned with chatting with every table around him. I collect pint ware and it seems in my 100 plus glasses they ordered a very thin cheap glass and I fear if I run it through the dishwasher, it will clean off all the ink. I was walking distance to this place in Philly over the weekend and on the second night, I passed on a return visit and went to Eulogy which has an immensely awesome beer list.

Stopped in for first time during PBW 2015. The setup is familiar to those who knew Triumph that originally had this space. There was a bunch of beers on draft, and the night was focused on the sour and funky styles. The two beers I had were of a good quality and had a nice flavor profile.

Service was prompt and friendly despite the large Friday night crowd . The food looked good buit I did not try any. If you are in Old City, definitely make some time to stop here.

We agree this is a great chill spot. Roomy space, very pleasant. They have the TV screens but another quiet area where you can get away from them which is a blessing. The beer is above average. You have an option of a 9-oz. glass in addition to a pint, which is nice. Foodwise we had the free range chicken which was quite delicious. We shared one plate which was actually enough for two. It is fairly pricey there, and if you just start ordering willy-nilly you could wrack up quite a bill, so be careful, if you're on a budget as we are.

The bartender...short blonde...was amazing. Had to start with that. The 2 beer flights I got were great. Reasonable pricing. Food was good. Loved the music. Good chill place mid day. Highly recommend the Canterbury Bitter and Adsultim (IIPA).
