Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our India Pale Ale pours a light golden color. It has Marris Otter malt backbone, but allows the focus of this beer, the hops, to shine. Loads of Ahtanum, Centennial, and Chinook hops fill your mouth with that bitterness we love on the first drink, with more subtle berry, pine, and grapefruit flavors appearing as your palate adapts. This beer finishes clean and dry with a slight lingering bitterness.

Best by 2/26/19 (drinking it about 1.5 months before end date. Really nice IPA in the glass. Unfiltered "hazy" look, pale yellow and an nice classic 2 finger head and great retention. Aroma is pretty subdued but has a sweet and malty aroma. Taste is a really well crafted IPA mix here. You got the sweetness, the light bitter and the malty grains all working in great symetry here. Has a nice soft mouthfeel. Overall this is a well made IPA and this brewery should be proud of this one.

Pours into an impy nonic a dull lighter golden with a full one finger bone white head that settles slowly.Slightly grainy and herbal with a shot of pine in the nose but it's on the cleaner side for the style.Dry with sharp watermelon and pine on the palate, not a juicy hop bomb more old school in it's dryer bitter flavors. Not bad,you don't to many IPA's right now with this kind of flavor profile.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a hazy, dark golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of pine, some herbal notes. Taste is balanced, pine, caramel malts, herbal, light bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a a pretty good beer.

Pours clear gold in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is pine and grapefruit rind. Medium bodied and carbonation, bitter. Makes for a solid, above average American ipa. Keeps me interested in the brewery.

From a can of freshness into my gullet. Kind of pissy yellow with not much head,. Decent nose however,so what the hey. It's not quite hoppy enough for me, but a good try by the WV boys. I'd buy it again for a lark.

Poured into a pint glass, golden hazy look with limited head and minimal lacing around the glass. Some pine and citrus hop notes but more malt taste than I was expecting. Good mouth feel but limited carbonation in this batch. Overall a good IPA with some hoppy flavors lingering around.

A: The beer is slightly hazy amber yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of caramel malts are present in the nose along with notes of herbal hops.
T: Like the smell, the taste starts out rather malty with flavors of caramel and toasted malts and has underlying notes of herbal hops with some hints of pine. There is a light to moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels medium-bodied and somewhat crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is rather malty for the style and reminds me more of an old school IPA.

Poured from the can into a Spiegelau IPA glass.

Pale amber orange body color, mostly clear but not totally. Fine enough amounts of solid carbonation creeping through the bottom. Head is solid white, a good easy three fingers with solid retention. Breaks up slightly but manages a creamy top and some swiss cheese like bubbles in the head. A solid good looking IPA.

Aroma is mild, senses floral and pine like a bit, but with a neutral sense of sweet caramel malt. Clean smelling, not particularly hop aromatic, only slightly.

Palate makes some interesting inroads. Sweet hop floral and an almost cedar quality of woody hop and caramel on first sip. Playful if light mouthfeel in carbonation, but supportive of the flavors. Pine aromatics and a sweet almost icing sugar like quality without being too terribly sweet. Good woody sweet like aftertaste, and some bitter citrus peel in the mix as well.

A pretty good controlled sweet IPA, manages to get hop character in just needs a bit more power.

A: Pours a very lightly hazy medium golden amber in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate golden yellow + copper colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall sudsy foamy beige head that reduces to a large patch of mottled thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of earthy, herbal, and citrus/grapefruit pith hops over the top of slightly less than moderate aromas of toasted, biscuit, and caramel malts with a hint of sweetness.

T: Upfront there are moderate flavors of toasted, biscuit, and caramel malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by just shy of moderate flavors of earthy, herbal, and citrus/grapefruit pith hops which impart a moderate amount of lingering bitterness.

M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Hints of dryness in the finish.

O: While this is not a bad tasting or bad mouthfeel beer, there is something about the combination of the flavor + mouthfeel that does not make this an easy drinker. Still enjoyable with well hidden alcohol, just not a beer that I want to have more than one during a session.
