On tap at a neighborhood bar in St. Louis. Pours a hazy golden orange. Smell is massive amounts of tropical fruit and a touch of pine. Taste follows the nose. Tons of delicious hop flavor from the Citra. Not very bitter. Incredibly drinkable. I ordered 3 pints of this that night. One of the my favorite beers from STL.

I have had this beer many times, and can't believe that I've never reviewed it. Golden, great head, mostly clear except for a few floaties, this is an attractive beer. The aroma is of pine, pithy citrus, and resiny hops. Fresh and intense aroma. The taste is drier than expected, although there is a solid malt flavor. I get lots of hop flavor. Succulent and juicy hops. Full in body and very enjoyable.

There's few cities in America that celebrates the civic pride like St. Louis. And at the Modern Brewery, they make beers to match that passion. With the choicest hops at their disposal, they create a bold, juicy and flavorful hop forward beer that brings the same sort of pride.
Citrapolis pours a typical amber golden hue of honey. Hazy and firmly headed, the beer's aromas are a radiant blend of oranges and caramel before that caramelized taste hits the tongue. Graham cracker, bread crust and pecan round out the savory malts in anticipation of its growing hops on the middle palate.
A bursting tangerine character permeates the tastebuds with a bold sense of citronella, branch ripe citrus, red grapefruit, nectarine and apricot. Trending herbal and bitter, the sweetness gradually releases and the drying resins of hops bring a crisp bitterness of orange peel, pith and leaf. Hinting toward hemp and geranium late on the palate.
Medium bodied and lingering with a soft linger of caramel malts, the beer seems to be part of pale ale and part of IPA. A long and bitter finish carries the peppery resins of hops with sun tea, verbena, juniper and freshly shaven pine at heart.

I can't believe more people haven't reviewed this beer. I have to admit that I'm also guilty of enjoying this for the past year without reviewing it. I will say this without exaggeration, Citrapolis is the best bee in Saint Louis. And one of the best best IPA's I've ever had. It's unbelievably fruity, crushable, crisp, everything you'd ever want in an IPA. I'm sure 5 years from now I'll be telling stories about how back in the day I was able to just drive down any time I wanted and grab a growler from the brewery. My biggest and most selfish fear is that word about this beer will get out and it will achieve mythical status and I will no longer be able to get it. If you come to Saint Louis and you don't try this beer you'll regret it forever.

Pours an effervescent and hazed amber with 2+ fingers of cream colored head. Lovely lacing & pretty good head retention
S: Mango, orange peel
T: Grapefruit, bready dryness, a little mango & pine up front. Pomelo, dryness, a touch of toffee, plus some grapefruit & mango as this warms. Woody hops & dryness dominate the finish, just a touch pomelo & breadyness
MF: Medium body, moderate carbonation, nice balance
Solid IPA, drinkable enough

This brew is extremely hazy and straw colored. A fingernail of off white is present. There's some good lacing here. Citrus aroma is somewhat faint. It tastes initially like biting into a grapefruit but fades fairly quickly. The mouth is fairly thick, syrupy, and slightly chewy.

16 oz. Can
Canned On: 07/12/17
Poured into a Squatters true pint glass a very nice cloudy orangy color, very nice carbonation, with a very nice thick/creamy one-finger plus off-white head, which also leaves some pretty nice creamy sticky lacing behind. The nose is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, with a nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit), some pineyness. The taste is pretty nice, hoppy, malty, very nice citrus complex (orange, tangerine, grapefruit), some pine notes. Medium body, ABV hidden very well, with a nice dry/bitter finish. Overall, this is a pretty tasty brew. Glad to have gotten a chance to try it. Thanks John!

On tap at Bailey's Range in STL.
A - Poured a clear, copper color with a white head of foam. Nice head retention and it left sticky rings of lace.
S - It smelled very piney with some strong citrus notes.
T - It tasted of pine and orange zest with a sweet caramel backbone. Good burnt toast maltiness. Great balance.
M - It was crisp and very smooth.
O - This is a really nice IPA.

On-tap at the Flying Saucer in St. Louis, on to the beer:
A hazy IPA with a small head, this IPA throws a major juice grenade into its aroma. Simply juicy grapefruit and juicy orange aromas are difficult to escape from, and a taste like that would make it a permanent replacement to orange juice. It doesn't quite hit that same level, however I still enjoy its dank grapefruit flavor, passionfruit, grass, and booze kisses, while the package runs in a stream of a smooth medium body with little perceived bitterness. See, even in the city of Budweiser, the juice is loose.

On tap. Pours a bright golden orange, slightly cloudy head with good retention. Sizable aroma of tropical fruit - pineapple, and mango, a bit of grapefruit. This follows through quite well in the taste and finish. Definitely strong hop presence with light malt backbone. Very good offering using all Citra hops. Definitely worth seeking out at some fine StL craft pubs - Prost!
