12oz bottle, no apparent freshness date
A - dark brown body with a dense, creamy light brown head
S - dark cocoa, roasted barley, grain
T - big bitter roastiness, caramel malt, dark baker's chocolate, espresso, earthy hops, ash
M - medium, creamy body, finishes with astringency and an ashy like finish
O - good but too heavy on the roasted barley/black patent malt. It ends up being bitter, astringent, and lacking some sweetness for the style. I do have to say that the name of the beer does help its cause and gives you an idea of what kind of a beer you will be drinking ahead of time.

Poured into a Von Trapp Brewery Beer glass from a 12ox can. The nose is ripe fruit, with a bit of roasted malt. Light tan head that does not hold long. Some very thin lacing. Taste is a pleasant - medium body with some rosted malts on the side of the tongue. Not much hop flavor - but there is a slight bitterness that is nicely balanced with the malt. This is more like a classic Brown ale than a Porter to my talse but is very good nonetheless. Very quaffable for a Porter. I will buy again!

12 oz. can, canning information is completely smeared and unreadable. Acquired a single can from the local Binny's as part of a mixed six pack. My first beer from Scorched Earth Brewing Company, out of Algonquin, Illinois.
Poured to a Samuel Smith nonic pint glass.
My accidental over aggressive pour yields four big pillowy fingers of root beer cream colored froth. Body is a deep dark cola, hints of ruby where my light (barely) shines through. Some ok scattered lacing.
Good balance of creamy chocolate malt, and a mildly earthy, piney hop presence. Slight notes of must, vanilla, cream, and dark figgy fruits appear as the beer warms.
Good roasty flavors of cooked chocolate malt, not overly bitter or aggressive, and good earthy, subtle piney hop flavor. Extremely well balanced stuff.
Feel is smooth, sleek, creamy. Finish is lightly bitter, roasty, & charred. Body is medium-light with good carb, and the lowish abv makes it feel very approachable.
A nice first beer to me from Scorched Earth Brewing, and it has been a while since I enjoyed a nice porter. Well done.

12 oz can into a pint glass.
Appearance: Very dark mahogany color with a small tan head that quickly receded to a thin cap.
Smell: Roasted malts, unsweetened baking chocolate, pistachio, nitro coffee.
Taste: Chocolatey sweetness balanced with a mild earthy hop bitterness and a faint hint of overripe citrus.
Mouthfeel: Medium-bodied, mostly creamy but a little caustic bite to keep things interesting.

Very strong porter. Coffee notes, rich, roasted malts. Unexpectedly satisfying.

Bottled 2/24/16; drank 6/22/16 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque dark brown appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice dark tan head; a curtain of lace.
Banana, fresh earth, milk chocolate & faint orange citrus notes in the nose.
Medium thick mouthfeel.
Banana, milk chocolate & faint fresh earth flavors up front; mild clove dryness on the finish.
Complex, with real depth; somehow still easy to quaff. An ace Porter. Bravo!

Pours a black color. 1/4 inch head of an off-tan color. Decent retention and decent lacing. Smells of sweet malt, spicy hops, slight piney hops, slight chocolate, and a hint of alcohol. Fits the style of an American Porter. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of sweet malt, slight roasted malt, spicy hops, slight piney hops, slight chocolate, and a hint of alcohol. Overall, good aroma, blend, and feel.

There is definitely a lot of coffee flavor and aroma here... More than your typical coffee porter, but not overwhelming. There is some chocolate sweetness to balance. Any hop aroma or flavor is trounced by the coffee and chocolate, but I detect some earthiness. The thing that does it in for me on this beer is the little bit of bitter espresso bite, probably not for everyone, but I love it! The medium carbonation is perfect for this beer. If you appreciate good coffee flavor, this your beer. This is easily my favorite coffee porter and currently my most sought beer!
