On tap at rebel pie in Florence, SC.
A: pours a deep tobacco brown with some dark red tint, thin off white foam head quickly disappears, few spots of lacing
S: smoked malts, tobacco, caramel, burnt wood
M: medium creamy full body
T: flavors of smoked malt, chewing tobacco, wood, earthy grain resin on the tongue, some chared wood
O: good beer that several could be enjoyed, could be a little smoother as other reviewer said, but sometimes I think smoked beers are very similar

Alot sweeter than expected and has plenty of smoked flavor. The combination makes this a rather good beer.

Pours a lovely copper color with a nice head that hangs around. Smells of smoke with a little caramel sweetness below...taste is just the same and its quite good. I like smoked brews a lot and this is quite good especially from a new brewery staring out, very well done indeed.

I remember the first time I drove through South Carolina’s back roads to the farm that houses Benford Brewing. I was excited to visit the brewery to collaborate with Brian O’Neil, the founder, and head brewer. At the time, I was working for a... continue reading https://agrainoftruthblog.wordpress.com/2016/11/09/benford-brewing-smoked-ohickory-brown-ale/

Undated 12 oz can of Benford "Smoked O’Hickory Brown Ale".
Pours with a clear copper body topped with a beige head that displays good retention and leaves patterned, sticky lacing on the glass.
Aroma: smoky caramel.
Flavor: The smoke is obvious but not what I'd consider overdone, and there's a light sweetness that helps make the smoke more appealing. Still, there's enough smoke to carry char and burnt wood characteristics.
Feel: medium body and medium+ carbonation.

On tap
Pours a clear brown color with a small fizzy white head that leaves some lacing behind. Smells of brown malts and smoked peat. Taste follows the aroma with smoked pest and wood, sweet earthy brown malt, dry finish. Medium body and carbonation, foamy mouthfeel
and finish. Nice smoked beer that isn't overbearing and highly drinkable

My first ry of this SC brewery.Pours a russet brown with a huge blooming light tannish colored head atop, liked the color but wasn't expecting an overflow here.Earth and light smoke in the nose with a hint of caramel/brown sugar.Toasty and smoked up front on the palate with a hint of char although subdued, caramel malts give a decent amout of sweetness. The feel is a little over carbonated and mildly prickly but the flavors are nice,a decent stab here.

Decent brown, nice smell, easy drinking, rests nicely in the mouth, a little on the caramelly sweet side, no bite.
