Produced with New Zealand hops, as noted by the bartender.

Growler filled at Big Time on September 3rd, 2011. Consumed same day while tailgating on the UW campus in red plastic "keg cups."

A: The beer poured a light orange color with a thin head of creamy white foam, which quickly broke down into small bubbles on the surface. Lacing was very minimal.

S: There was a nice citrus aroma, with hints of pine, apricot and caramel.

T: Nice citrus flavor with some grapefruit, apricot and bread. Finished with a well-balanced bitter hop note.

M: Pretty light body for an IPA but finished with a nice bitter note. The mouth feel was crisp and light, and the alcohol was not noticeable.

O: I guess everyone has a different opinion, as I actually prefer this to Bhagwan's Best and Scarlet Fire. Great IPA to enjoy on a beautiful Saturday before college football.

Icculus, and his helping friendly book. His name was...ICCULUS

on-tap, bottleworks

appearance: served in an unbranded shaker pint, partly cloudy straw-orange body, light beige foam

smell: skunky hops, moderate bitterness

taste: Big Time makes solid IPA's, often with somewhat off-kiltered nods to jamband nation. That's fun, i guess. Icculus isn't really spectacular - in fact its definitely one of the poorer IPA's coming out of Big Time. Dry body, fair amount of sharp bitterness, grassy hops, tangerine rind, grapefruit

mouthfeel: dry, moderate bitterness

overall: Not sure what the famous mockingbird would think, but good enough to choke down a few pints.

Had on-tap in a pint glass at the brewery. According to the bartender, this is made with Nelson Sauvin hops.

Appearance: hazy golden orange hue with a thin layer of ivory foam. Decent.

Smell: rich, strong aroma of citrusy hops. Quite good.

Taste: rich, bold hop flavor with big fruity character including citrus and tangerine notes. Bitterness is strong and bracing. A stragihtforward, well crafted IPA.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a good level of carbonation and concomitant creaminess. I like it!

Overall: the dryish malt along with the strong and uncompromising citrus hops make this super tasty and eminently drinkable. Fan-damn-tastic; I will order this every time they have it.

Pours hazy gold, thick white cap that slowly falls. Smell is orange-lime with a hint of onion. Taste, again is oddly similar. Thick malty backbone to support the skunky citrus hops, mouthfeel is thick and the hop bitterness clings to the back of the palate. Not the best IPA I've had, certainly not the worst.
