I've had good experiences with Adventures, both in-person and online shopping, though I haven't visited or ordered through them very often. The location is convenient, just off Telegraph near I-94, and not far from the border if you're a Canadian BA. They've always been helpful and service has been quite good. Selection of ingredients is great - they stock pretty much everything I look for when all-grain brewing. I've mainly purchased kegging hardware from them though and they've got good prices on things like used corny kegs. Recommended.

Do not use this merchant for on-line orders to be shipped. My order was placed on a Sunday (so they got the order on Monday morning) and the promised delivery date on the order form was the next Friday. No package on Friday so I looked up tracking and found it wouldn't be arriving until the following Tuesday, four days later than promised and too late to use the ingredients for a brewing party that weekend. If a business can't keep its shipping promises, it shouldn't make them! They may be a great business to walk into, but don't order for shipment!

These folks got me started with homebrewing. Loads of stuff for every stage, great pricing and sales, and the option to pickup in store when you order through the website. Not the closest place to me, but I'll still get my extract kits here any day.

I purchased a kegging system on line. When I opened the box I was sure some of the extra goodies I had ordered were not there. I call there service department and even though I was a bit testie, they shipped me the replacement parts. On Christmas day when my son opened the box and found the parts, I felt like s#$%. I call them today to return or buy the parts (just a few $) but they said "Merry Chirstmas" and for me to keep them. A class operation and Iwill be doing business with them in the future. Thanks again to Adventures in Homebrewing.

This was the first homebrew shop I visited when I started brewing a year ago, and I haven't found a better one since.

The staff is friendly and helpful, but knows when to leave you to your own devices. They were extremely helpful when I went in looking for a beginners kit and even encouraged me to call them if I ran into to any trouble when I brewed my first batch.

The selection is second to none, and grains, yeasts and hops varieties that I have had trouble finding at other area stores always seem to be in stock here.

This is easily the best homebrew shop in the metro Detroit area, which is saying something, because thyere are a few good ones around here.

Awesome. Every time I've shopped here its been a great experience. They helped me to create a recipe for one of my favorite beers that they didn't have in the recipe book, and it turned out amazing. A+ would recommend.

Like others have said, great location, easy to find. Even though I live far away I prefer this shop to my local ones. They will package everything for you, or walk you through the process, which was excellent, being able to get good whiffs of the grains I would be brewing with, and deciding then whether I wanted to alter the amounts of certain malts in my beer. All questions I've ever had have been answered thoroughly and they don't try to "upsell" you. In fact, I was picking up some things in addition to the regular batch supplies and when my total came up the clerk checked over my items again to make sure he hadn't rung up something twice!

The service at this place is incredible. My buddy and I went there to get outfitted for our first homebrew and didn't really know a lot. One of the employees explained the entire process to us, step by step, answered all of our questions, and outfitted us with pretty much everything we needed, except for a thermometer, which we forgot. All the other employees were being similarly helpful with the other customers there as well.

They had all kinds of supplies, kegging equipment, etc. I would strongly recommend going here for beginner or experienced homebrewers.

When you walk in the first person to say hello to you is the owner -Jason. He is very friendly and just shows the general enthusiasm of someone who enjoys his trade and wants others to succeed. The first time I went in, it was the old place on Ford Rd and it was just jammed packed full of ingredients and supplies. Now, in the new store he has more room and seems to have stocked up on more items. I looked around and he now has a book area, valave, area, wine making and cider area, and more. He is more than willing to answer any questions you throw at him doesn't make you feel like you are annoying him even though there are two more people standing in line behind you. Sorry, guys! A highly recommended place even if it's your first time. Jason will set you up good and for a fair price!

Adventures is a great place for all of your homebrewing needs. They can pretty much get anything that you ask for.

Their new building on Van Born in Taylor is a huge upgrade from the old store on Ford Rd. They have much more room now and are planning to brew at the new location.

Jay and Matt are always very helpful as well and they will go above and beyond to help out any of their customers. I give it adventures an A+

Check out some of thier featured recipies. Most of them are very good and rather inexpensive to brew.

initially found Adventures after a recommendation in the homebrewing forum suggested they were a great place to get cheap cornys. then i discovered they were in the detroit area, so i figured i'd check them out on one of my trips to windsor.

i emailed to ask them a few questions, and they were very helpful. the store actually has a larger selection than the website does, so i inquired about some items not on the website. eventually two of the guys i brew with decided it was time to get a kegerator setup, so a couple email/calls with the staff later they had everything they'd need ordered. when i hit the store i was able to pickup both of their orders, plus grab a stockpile of stuff for myself.

great selection of grain, lots of hops (except for amarillo, i grabbed the last ounce in the store), lots of yeast (white labs, wyeast, and dry stuff too). everything you could need for equipment and kegging. the service in store was just as great as the previous email/phone communication, so i was quite happy. i left with a full carload of stuff, and will definitely be back. only about 10min from the ambassador bridge, so fairly convenient for anyone in the windsor area too.

I finally made the trek to Adventures in Homebrewing, figuring that my reliance on smaller sources a block from my office had to end sometime -- you know, when I needed more than the 3 things that place offers.

Anyhow, the young-ish guy manning the operation that day was exceptionally helpful as I journeyed down the road of making hard cider, a thoroughfare previously untravelled by yours truly. Of course, I also had to pick up some brewing gear for future brewing efforts.

All sizes of carboys, a variety of propane burners, racks of little things ranging from the ubiquitous (stoppers) to the somewhat obscure (every size valve and fitting imaginable... I didn't pick up any grain, so I didn't puruse the selection too much, but it looked much more expansive than anything else I'd seen in the area thus far. And they certainly had a good yeast selection.

I spent a bit less than I was expecting on my new carboy but a bit more than I expected on my new burner and stand. However, it's always worth it to support a specialty shop that you want in your life and in the lives of others.

I'll probably make this a regular stop now for homebrewing needs as I get a little more advanced (that is to say, as I move from less-than-crappy to mediocre) in my craft.

One of the better homebrew shops in the area. Lots of grain tubs with a great selection of specialty grains. Friendly and helpful staff. Closed on Mondays (WHY!?) I dislike homebrew shops that make you buy pre-packaged bags of grain. If I have a grain bill, I want to walk out of the shop with only those grains in a single bag....and crushed. They do this at Adventures in Homebrewing. Plenty of fresh yeast and hops available. A cursory glance showed a good amount of homebrew equipment for sale (though not as much as Cap n Cork - check that place out too!!). Recommended!

Nice place! Had the place to myself for my first visit, and the one-man staff was very nice. Had some questions about some rare-ish grains I'd never used, and he was more than solicitous to give knowledge and advice. Seems pretty darn thorough, plenty of hops and yeast, all the typical types. Of course, it could have more of the crazy new varieties of hops and more obscure malts, but I think the selection is fine. I enjoy the big milling machine, it crushed two 10 lb. plus batches of grain in a jiffy. Seemed to also have the usual gadgetry, too. Plenty of wine and mead making supplies, too, though the bent is more toward brewing with an increasing amount of gadgets and tech. materials.

Also helps is that its really easy to find, off of a big and busy road. Many months later and its a regular stop.

I've only been to a couple stores that sell brewing equipment, but this is definitly the best so far. The owner is allways in and very helpfull. Everything I've needed from Corneys and fittings to ingredients has been in stock and very well priced. So much stuff was as cheap or cheaper than on the internet that its really a no brainer to buy localy. The guy even offered to fill my CO2 at the gas place on his way into work the next day since I was pressed for time.
