this place has gotten better over the last few years - a good stop after home depot (making for a truly manly shopping excursion) -
although, as someone else reviewed, their location has them cut out for the lotto/newport/tallboy crowd, they have a very decent craft/micro selection, and yes some dusty bottles amongst them -
harder to find stuff sometimes available - lately found dfh palo santo marron, olde school barleywine, nugget nectar and bklyn black ops -a week later none of these were on the shelf - 2 weeks later, some more - they only order their craft stuff a case at a time, i guess - the younger fellow there has ordered st unearthly for the shelves at my request, which is now in their regular lineup, and he's thrown me some free glassware - the owner(?) openly smokes
cigars at the register - they've helped me get beer out to my car - the bathroom is accessible and clean.

Day 23.
Rear driver side outside flat, somewhere North of Yorktown. It didn't down them, I mean, they can run on it, it's just a matter of how soon me and Cal can get up there with the service truck. They were going to head West into Peekskill and out the other side to the burn plant; we'd just find them along the way somewhere. As it was, we made great time up 9A and caught them just outside of Mohegan Lake, just as the rain started to come down heavily. As I don't need to be sitting out here in the rain, I'm sure there's something else I can be doing...
It's a treacherous journey through the winding case macro mountains, but I pressed on, that I may live to see the ocean of micros beyond. Better than most of what you see around the county, standard local, regional and beyond, and then some. They had 4 packs of the North Coast organic beers done up for Whole Foods (Old Plowshare Stout & Cru D'Or Dubbel, as well as their Silver Jubilee Saison). Decent collection of 22 ounce bombers (Stone, Rogue, Bear Republic, Avery, Weyerbacher, Smuttynose, Anderson Valley, Lagunitas, Harpoon, Southampton). Imports were not amazing, but they carried the usual suspects (Unibroue, Chouffe, Chimay, Duvel, Rodenbach, Affligem, Piraat, Gulden Draak, Delirium, Gouden Carolus, Saison Dupont, Corsendonk). Not too shabby.
They've got a wall display of tap hook ups to accommodate just about anything you've got beer in (short of a mid 80's Matt's beer ball, but then again, maybe). Warm growlers of at least 3 different Blue Point beers up front, plus cigars, smokes, sodas, other drinks. Serviced served. I think this is the better of the 2 joints along this stretch.

A nice clean store on the side of Rt. 6 with a nightmare of a parking lot. Tons of macros, lots of cases and 12 packs and a really generously sized wall of micros, British, German and Belgian stuff.

The prices are good and maybe 50 cents to a buck less than a little ways down the road at Beverage World in Peekskill, but the service is nowhere near anything to write home about. The staff seems to just be punching the clock and could care less what you were buying and don't seem to know much either. Prices are pretty clearly marked, which is somehting I always appreciate. Not a bad place and a place I will stop now and then just to see if they have different stuff than Beverage World, but even though some of Beverage Worlds prices maybe a buck more I'll pay it for the great service I get there.

sidenote: Another thing I noticed that I thought was strange, their growlers from blue point were not refrigerated....shouldn't they be... please correct me if I am wrong.

Better then average beverage place, close to Jefferson valley mall and Home Depot on Rt. 6. Selecton is decent, reasonable varity of mostly typical, Belgian, Germans and Domestic quality brews. They wont allow you to brake up six packs for a few singles, which is a drag. Also some dust was evident on some of the stock. Even worse was their great selection of Octoberfest and winter warmers, when I visited in May! C'mon where is the display of tasty spring/summer wheats beers etc. Anyway the owners here dont seem too into the micro thing, but there trying.

A good place to find fine beer in the Cortlandt-Mohegan Lake-Peekskill area. A suprisingly descent selection of craft beer and fine imports. I left with a lot more beer than I intended: Celebrator DoppelBock, Sierra Nevada Big Foot, Victory, Three Philosophers (their selection continues to increase since my first visit). Reasonably priced. I was pleasantly suprised. If you live in the area definitley check this place out, if you happen to be passing through. Not my local favorite (which is Beverage World in Peekskill), but it does come in second. Just be careful pulling out of the parking lot and trying to turn left onto route 6...traffic is seriously hazardous (park across the street in the Cortlandt shopping center).

The selection here is clearly getting significantly better. They now carry everything the other local stores do and then some. The customer service is a bit lacking...though there is a younger guy is friendly and seems to be responsible for the shift to the better. Definitely give them a try.

This store is pretty much run-of-the-mill, cases and cases of macros all over the place. There's one shelf of imports and micros, and while there's some interesting stuff, there's not a lot. It probably doesn't sell that much either, since some of the bottles are kind of dusty. The Samuel Smiths are on the top, right under the fluorescent lights, just waiting to get skunked in their clear bottles. There's rarely any offers to help find something, and never even a comment when they ring you up, like "Nice choice, I think you'll like that, I had some last week." I get the impression that the staff is into cigars, cigarettes, Lotto, and Coors Light Suitcases, but it's an OK place if you're in the neighborhood, and have a craving for a Young's Luxury Double Chocolate Stout.
