From a 32oz crowler canned 6 days ago

Appearance - Pours hazy and kind of an auburn-ruby color with a sandstone colored, pillowy finger width head. Fair retention before resolving to a mostly barren surface and a razor thin ring of suds along the edge of the glass. No lacing, save a spot or two.

Smell - Aroma is slightly earthy and a touch of fruit and toffee sweetness.

Taste - The flavor profile starts with a malt sweetness that sits somewhere between caramel and toffee with light roast notes. Fruity 'apple-ish' note develops as it warms. Just a hint of bitterness, mostly from the roast, but also a touch of wood and earth character. Bittersweet finish, with lingering notes of toffee and wood.

Mouthfeel - Medium-bodied with fair, tingly carbonation. Goes down slick before a mostly dry finish.

Overall - A pretty darn tasty Irish Red. Nice display of balance and development of flavors. Fantastic for the style; probably the best I've had to date.

On tap at Tiger Tiger in San Diego. Dark chestnut color with a brief foam in the half-litre monic.

Really evocative woodsy and nutty flavor that I call "musty," but in a nice way. Leaf mold and walnuts. Just a slight bitter finish. It has the taste of a big Brown Ale. Fruity notes of apple and pear.

This does't taste like any Irish Red I've ever had, but that's definitely a compliment.

On draft with breakfast. Nice dark coppery color with a slightly off white head. Leaving just a bit of lacing as it goes down.

Aroma and taste parallel with carmely, malty goodness. A bit of fruity sweetness with enough hop bite to keep it from being overly so. A bit of carbonation adds to the mouthfeel which is on the bright side.

Nice amber/red ale and working well against the saltiness of the bacon.

On-tap at the source itself, on to the beer:

Crimson colored with reddish hues, coupled with a few white strings of lace which cling to the glass. The aroma packs a punch of goodness; malt forward to no surprise. I smell big fruity esters, earth, and a kiss of cocoa. This sets up the taste, which brings a tasty beer that is also easy drinking. Pleasing esters hit, but not to be outdone are earth, caramel, and toasted malts. It's full flavored and very smooth, and certainly the best Artifex beer that I have tried so far.
