From 2016.
From a 750ml bottle, pours a dark ruby red, minimal head, spotty lacing. Has some dark fruit aroma, minimal notes from the barrel, but still seems "hot". This is a sipper from the word go.

Not as refined as the stout, which was boozy in its own right. The barleywine flavors you expect are present: dark fruit, especially raisin and plum, wood, barley and toffee, but then washed in waves of bourbon. This is especially true in the smell. Feel is hot and a little thin, but good wood tannin textures. Some aging should help...

Aging note: Success, way more balanced and allows the underlying flavors to star!

Pours a reddish brown with a very thin white head. Smells much like bourbon. Has a sweet bourbon taste too it. I can definitely taste the alcohol. Mouthfeel is heavy. Definitely a sipper. Overall, not a bad sipper. However, it's more expensive than it's worth.

Tasted in a 12 oz snifter from draught at Firkin on January 14, 2016. Aged for one year in Heaven Hill bourbon barrels. Thin head with some lingering lacing. Aromas of bourbon and oak. Hints of spice, toffee and dark fruit.

750ml waxed bottle poured into a snifter. My first beer from this local brewery.

A- Pours a cloudy ruby, borderline brown color with a good amount of off-white head which hangs around awhile.

S- Sweet malts, dark fruits, and the subtle hint of bourbon and oak.

T- Rather sweet up front, with some notes of caramel and dark fruits. The bourbon is rather muted but there, and is noted at the end of each sip.

M- Medium to heavy, nice sipper.

Not a bad offering at all for a barrel aged take from this small local brewery. I would've loved some more bourbon character for sitting in barrels for a year, but it's definitely a nice sipping beer.
