A reverent imagination of the American IPA. Pale orange in color with a ghastly addition of Ekuanot and MI Cascade hops. Mild bread and caramel malt character are accompanied by big bright citrus, tropical fruit, and melon. Dank hops.

A thanks to the mighty woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has an orange color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of pine, light tropical fruits. Taste is dank, pine, a solid malt backbone, significant bitterness. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is an enjoyable beer.

This marks the CANtinuation of my (Un?)Happy New Jumping Off of the New Platform Beer Sunday (Week 755)! I have been redding up my house during my CANvalescence from surgery & putting together a number of brewery horizontals in doing so. I had planned, even before its announcement about its sale to A-B/InBev, to drink a buncha beers & a seltzer from Kleveland's Platform Beer Co. for this week's NBS. I was disheartened to hear of the news, especially having read the GI story. I am not one to boycott a beer due to their acquisition by a large corporation, but it did take some of the wind out of my sails.

From the CAN: "West Coast Style IPA"; "Bright*Dry*Hoppy"; "Malts[:] 2 Row[,] Dextrine[,] Crystal 15[,] Acidulated[,] Hops[:] Centennial[,] Cascade[,] Ekuanot (tm)[,] Yeast[:] West Coast Ale[,] Plato[:] 15.5[,] IBU[:] 57"; "Ohio Craft Beer".

"All right!" shouted the hophead as they cranked up the IBUs. I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a moderate C-Line Glug that foamed up to form just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, tawny head with decent retention. Color was a gorgeous solid-Amber (SRM = > 7, < 9) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was redolent with a cool pine mintiness. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was a throwback to the late-1990s when I really became a hophead. It was unapologetically hoppy, bitter & the kind of thing that really trips my trigger & revs my engine. The acidulated malt gave it another layer of slightly tart bitterness. Wow! It was highly pine-like, causing me to CANtemplate licking the sap on a pine tree for a CANparable exbeerience. At last, after a day & a-half, the hops monkey on my back was ceasing his screeching & my hops jones was no longer itching for a scratch. Phew! I miss this kind of thing on a regular basis, thanks to southern hemisphere hops. Finish was dry & bitter, just the way I like 'em. YMMV.

You need to like an IPA with a bitter bite to like this one. Interesting flavor. Good for a couple beers, but not sure I would want to buy a 12 pack.

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has some hues of amber along with a faint amount of visible carbonation. It poured with lots of medium-sized white bubbles covering the surface.
S: Moderate aromas of caramel malts are present in the nose along with hints of spicy hops.
T: The taste follows the smell, except that the hops are a little stronger—with additional notes of citrus and pine—and contribute a moderate amount of bitterness.
M: It feels just about medium-bodied and slightly crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I would consider this to be more of an "honest" IPA. The aromas and flavors of hops won't blow you away but it has a nice amount of bitterness to it.

12 oz can with no freaking date.

Amber orange color, white 1 finger head that does not last and leaves no lacing. Generic fruit, slight spice and malt. Odd mix of hops. Kinda muted flavor profile. Semi-sweet juicy fruit, spicy black pepper with a lemon rind finish. Who knows how old this is. Maybe it`s better fresh. Not a bad beer but something is missing. Pass.

I think this is a great AIPA. This beauty pours deep yellow with fine bubbles. The aroma is hoppy and skunky. Very nice. The taste is bitter yet malty. It looks and tastes more like an imperial, but since it doesn't say that, it's for sessioning, right?

It's just a bit creamy with a bitter aftertaste. This sample is 17 days old. I'l bet they are even more awesome within the first few days (why you drink local, right?).

Recommended. I would certainly buy it again next year.
