This beer is part of Platform's 12 Kettle sours series of 12 releases in 12 months. Poured out a 16 oz. can into a stange glass, this beer pours a cloudy/hazy deep, medium red color. I haven't too many, if any, beers with this color scheme before. Has a pink, fizzy head that while initially being about an inch thick when first poured, fizzes like the type of foam head one gets when one pours oneself a glass of soda pop. Interesting. Head dissipates very quickly to a medium sized ring lining the inside of the glass along with little bits of surface coating of foam. Barely any lacing. Aromas of some bready malts, black berries, and bit of musty barnyard funk from the yeast no doubt. Has a somewhat bready malt flavor along with some definite wheat that gives way to some blackberry sourness, a nice saltyness, and a hint of musty, barnyard funk. I really like the flavor profile here. This one stands out in a good way from other Goses that I've had. Has a crisp, yet smooth, slightly prickly, medium bodied mouthfeel with moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish with a slightly dry aftertaste. The flavors really linger nicely on the inside of my mouth and tongue after each sip. I quite enjoyed this one.

I have been delving deeply into ciders today & this CAN happened to be ready to go for The CANQuest (tm), so I am going to shift gears & have a Gose.

From the CAN: "Kettle Sour Series"; "Berry*Tart*Salty"; "Malts[:] Pilner[,] Pale Wheat[,] Vienna[,] Wheat Flakes[;] Hops[:] Crystal[;] Yeast[:] American Ale[;] Adjuncts[:] Black Raspberry[,] Marionberry[,] Natural Sea Salt".

I Crack!ed the vent open & beCAN a slow, gentle Glug into the awaiting glass since I was a tad apprehensive after reading prior reviews. Sure enough, it was pouring with a color that I am unacCANstomed to seeing. Further, it created its own fizzy, foamy finger of deep-pink head that quickly fizzled out of existence. Color was Cranberry-Magenta (SRM = N/A) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was easily identifiable as black raspberry & sea salt & if I knew about marionberries, I would have also mentioned them. I grew up baking with my grandmothers & my paternal grandmother grew both Black & Red raspberries & kept the bees very happy with the inclusion of her rosebushes. Black raspberries have a greater inherent tartness than their Red counterparts & so we often baked a combination of both into our pies. In late season, we would make a decadent all-Red raspberry pie. As to seas salt, I am a retired U.S. Navy sailor with plenty of sea time in the books. That scent just makes me long to get underway. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste was moderately tart, but the Black raspberry & sea salt remained easily identifiable throughout. I really must get smarter about Marionberries, I suppose. Finish was tart, dry, refreshing, fruity & definitely worth a try if you see it. Mmm.

Poured from a 16 can from the taproom

It is a reddish purple color. Looks a little bit like cranberry juice. It is very turbid with a lot of floaties. Very fizzy, soda like head that dissipated rapidly.

It smells like dark berries (black and raspberry), salt, and kind of vinegary. When it warms up, some wheat and bready barely comes through.

It is tart, but not super sour. A sour blackberry with a hint of sugar. There is some acidic notes and a little bit of saltiness. A decent lingering wheat flavor.

It has a crisp carbonation, is lighter bodied, and is pretty soft and dry finishing from the salt.

While not a textbook version of a Gose that is also too fruit forward, this is still a very enjoyable beer that reminds me of Mad Tree Shade.

Unique and has the full on gose flavor going on. Aroma is wild yeast, and taste is sour, salty and raspberry. Slightly bigger mouthfeel than expected considering the low ABV.

16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 11/20/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy ruby reddish/pink/purple color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of tart/tangy blackberry, raspberry, lemon, peach, pear, red/green apple, red grape, sea salt, hay, grass, wheat, cracker, biscuit, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of fruity/acidic yeast, berries, sea salt, and bready malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big tart/tangy blackberry, raspberry, lemon, peach, pear, red/green apple, red grape, sea salt, hay, grass, wheat, cracker, biscuit, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tartness, fruit/wheat tang; and light bitter/spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of tart/tangy blackberry, raspberry, lemon, peach, pear, red/green apple, red grape, sea salt, hay, grass, wheat, cracker, biscuit, light pepper/lacto funk, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, berries, sea salt, and bready malt flavors; with a great malt/tartness and tangy fruit balance, with zero puckering/astringent flavors after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from tartness and tangy fruit. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready, grainy, acidic, tangy, tannic, and saline balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is a delicious Gose. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/acidic yeast, berries, sea salt, and bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the modestly lactic/tangy/drying finish. Nice malt body for the ABV to balance acidity. Awesome balance between the fruity lacto, berries, salt, and bready malts. A very enjoyable offering, and great style example.

16oz can poured into a stange
A: A berry red opaque appearance, kind of the hue of a cranberry; no head
S: Somewhat muted but blackberry shows up
T: Tart, blackberry, what I assume is marionberry, light wheat and a hint of salt
M: Light-bodied, tart
O: This tastes great now, very refreshing, hopefully it will stay fresh through summer as I'd love to enjoy one on a hot day

This beer/Gose was sent to me by a friend in Ohio. I thought it was a very good Gose.

Look: semi-clear red-purple, with a half-inch pink head.

Aroma: blackberries

Taste: The taste is wheat & barley, black berries, allegedly Marion Berry (I have not had Marion Berry before), but there's definitely black berry and perhaps other berries. It's tart, fizzy, a bit sweet but not too much.

Feel: it’s light, Crisp, refreshing
