It is the occasion of New Beer Sunday (Week 655), which CANincides with NFL football's opening weekend for the season. My beloved Stillers are visiting the hated Kleveland Klowns & I wanted to drink something appropriate to mark the ocCANsion. We recently began getting distro of Platform Beer Co.'s CANs & since I am a CANnoiseur & not a CANnibal, instead of drinking their blood, I will be drinking their fermented malt-based beverages from a CANtainer formed from aluminum in a cylindrical form. Viva The CANQuest (tm)! Here we go, Stillers, here we go!

From the CAN: "Malts: 2 Row, Pilsner, Crystal Hops: East Kent Goldings Yeast: Voss Kveik Adjuncts: Fresh Ginger, Lemon Juice, Lemon Zest"; "Citrusy*Spicy*Bright".

Once more, I began by teaching this beer who was boss through a CANbination of shaking, agitation (both physical & verbal taunting) & some spanking. As to that latter, it really seemed to enjoy being spanked, which was NOT my intent. 8=O Kinky Kleveland! I gave it some calming time before the Crack! It worked, in that I was not getting much foaming through the vent, but when I started an inverted Glug, my glass quickly filled with foam. I backed off to allow it to settle & form two-plus fingers of dense, rocky, bone-white head with good retention. Color was a deeply-hazy/lightly-cloudy orangish Yellow-Gold (SRM = 4 - 5). Nose was redolent with lemon & ginger ... or was it ginger & lemon? They were involved in hand-to-hand CANbat for supremacy, but my mouth was simply watering in response. I had sushi on Tuesday & this would have been great with it! This scent could be an air freshener. Mmm. Mmmouthfeel was mmmedium. The taste was honey-lemon & ginger which cut through the yeasty mustiness that usually puts me off in the style. It was not as spicy as the nose had led me to expect, but it was just enough to not overpower the stylistic aspects of a Saison. Wow. I would absolutely take this along to a BYOB sushi or oriental food outing, maybe in a cooler if they would allow us to have that much of it. This was stunning, especially as a follow-up to their tart anniversary Gose. This was more spicy than that one had been with its infusion of coriander. Speaking of spiciness, this one had a dry finish, but less dry than the Gose had been. I could drink several of these, where that one was more of a one & done.

Well this is a beer showing its age tons of sediment in my glass and a 5/22 canned on date means 5 months old. Smells still rather nice somewhat sour lemon and ginger combination. Pretty much mildly flavored water at this point good lemon and ginger with a nice splash of saison yeast. Drink ability is quite nice was able to pound it without complaint.

Overall drink this one fresh gets kind of cloudy the longer it sits.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has lots of fine particulates visible floating in suspension along with a moderate amount of carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down, leaving a small patch of bubbles on the surface and a narrow ring of bubbles around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of ginger are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has additional hints of spices from the saison yeast.
M: It feels a bit shy of being medium-bodied on the palate and has a light to moderate amount of crispness and a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is very refreshing and has pleasant aromas and flavors of ginger. I didn't really get any of the lemon in it. It is very easy to drink.

Poured out of a 12 oz. can into one of my tulip glasses, this beer pours a fairly hazy, cloudy medium golden color with a nice white head that's about 2/3 of an inch thick when first served that settles pretty quickly to a very thick ring lining the inside of the glass along with a thick film layer surface coating of foam. Good lacing too. Aromas of some bready malts along with ginger and lemony citrus zest along with a slight barnyard funk note. The taste is pretty much the same, with some bready malts and a bit of wheat, some nice ginger and lemon citrus flavors, a slight bit of barnyard funk, and a bit of earthy hops to round out the flavor profile. Good flavor profile. I really like the use of the ginger here. Has a slightly crisp, yet smooth, medium bodied mouthfeel with light to moderate carbonation. Has a clean finish with a slightly sweet aftertaste, and the ginger likes to hang out after each sip. A pretty good beer all around.

Had this on draft at a music club not far from the brewery. Smell and taste were a bit thin for what I was expecting but the mouthfeel was refreshing and not bad for a farmhouse ale.

A thanks to the sultan of saison's, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Despite zero agitation, this beer came oozing out of the can, resulting in a bright golden color and a half glass of head. Smell is of ginger, lemons. Taste is ginger, malts, light lemons, very easy drinking. Feels medium/full bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 5/15/2017. Pours lightly hazy medium golden/yellow color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big lemon, lime, ginger, orange, pear, apple, white grape, citrus zest, peppercorn, clove, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/earthy/spicy yeast, lemon, ginger, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big lemon, lime, ginger, orange, pear, apple, white grape, citrus zest, peppercorn, clove, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate peppery spiciness and lightly tart/tangy yeast on the finish. Lingering notes of lemon, lime, ginger, orange, pear, apple, white grape, citrus zest, peppercorn, clove, cracker, white bread, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy/spicy yeast, lemon, ginger, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/spiciness balance, and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from yeast/ginger spiciness as well. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately creamy/bready/grainy, fairly crisp, and lightly sticky balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 4.3%. Overall this is an awesome fruited/spiced table saison. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/earthy/spicy yeast, lemon, ginger, and moderate pale malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the mellow spicy/drying finish. Perfectly balanced between yeast and lemon/ginger spice flavors; with a great malt backbone. Very flavorful and never watery feeling for the session ABV. A really enjoyable offering.
