Canned on 8/28/19. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours a burnt orangish golden with some haze and mild clarity; small off-white head that fades quickly leaving decent retention and okay lacing. The aromas have some hints of vanilla and marshmallow leading the way. Some caramel. Mild hints of graham crackers. Mild spice notes. Malts are there. The flavors have alot going on. More sweet vanilla and marshmallow along with some cocoa. The graham crackers come through and don't come off as artificial. Some coconut in the mix. Some floral notes. Spices are balanced, but leave their mark. Solid bitterness that eventually becomes more balanced. There's a subtle sweetness to this one, but it's not cloying or anything like that. Solid malt backbone. Alcohol basically goes unnoticed. Mouthfeel is medium-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's fluffy, smooth and ultimately easy to drink.
This is a pretty solid brew. It starts off a little rough around the edges with an odd aftertaste, but it quickly comes together. The aromas and flavors open up as it slightly warms. I was enjoying it the more I got into it. It's a fitting beer for the fall season. It's been awhile since I've had their regular "Yammy Yammy", which I recall not personally loving, so I'd say that this one is better based off of memory. I like this one.

12 FL OZ can
Served in a can glass
This beer pours burnt orange with a slight haze. It is topped with a couple inches of tan head that leaves decent lacing.
The smell is yams with cinnamon and nutmeg. I also get chocolate. After it warms a bit I get some marshmallow.
The spices are more apparent in the taste. The yam is earthy. The chocolate is sweet. I don't really get marshmallow except in the aftertaste.
Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel
I tried this on tap once and was not impressed, but I did not have a fresh palate. This beer is hitting the spot tonight on a fresh, unadulterated palate. It has a great mouthfeel. That might be the most impressive part of this beer.

Pours a slightly hazy medium golden color, good head retention. Smells sweet, faint chocolate, and a touch of starchy yam. Flavor is sweet at first - I get marshmallow, followed by light pie spice. Yam flavor is present throughout, and the finish has a light chocolate flavor, accompanied by a significant bitterness throughout the finish. Carbonation is appropriate. Overall I find this beer a bit too sweet and artificial tasting.

I thought that Yammy Yammy makes for a great alternative to fall pumpkin beers. This variant, however, falls short of the original.
The nose certainly has some nice chocolate notes. Unfortunately, the adjuncts combine to create a fake sweet flavor that hampers the drinkability of this offering.

Welcome back to I CAN Only Tell You That I Am Drinking These New Beers This Sunday of My Own Free Will Before CANother Flashback Begins (Week 767)! I went upstairs after those first two & had a bit of a lay-down before arising & taking a tab. It's time for a CANQuest (tm) flashback to Weeks 755/756!
A note of explaCANation: These past several are NOT out of the backlog, but from various venues as the pre-buyout CANs still have the "Independent" seal & will be CANlector items. I am buying them as I find them, but the stream will eventually dry up. 8=(
From the CAN: "Sweet Potato Ale with Natural Flavors"; "Decadent*Slightly Spiced*Smooth"; "Grains[:] 2 Row[,] CaraMalt[,] Munich II[,] CaraPils[,] Melanoidin[,] Flaked Barley[,] Hops[:] Galena[,] Yeast[:] American Ale[,] Adjuncts[:] Marshmallow Fluff[,] Graham Cracker[,] Chocolate[,] Spice Blend[,] Sweet Potato"; "Plato[:] 18.7[,] IBU[:] 25"; "Ohio Craft Beer".
I CAN't wait to see what they made in their final days before the buyout. In order to do so, I Crack!ed open the vent & beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. Oh, this was just gorgeous coming out of the CAN! It foamed up to form two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, French Vanilla-colored head with great retention. Color was Amber to Deep-Amber/Light-Copper (SRM = > 9, < 13) with NE-quality clarity. Nose was spicy, but not pumpkin-y. I think that I might have recognized sweet potato had they not identified it. In the Navy, we had all sorts of Holiday treats & the first time that I had sweet potato pie in lieu of pumpkin, I really enjoyed it! It's denser and more vegetal than pumpkin. Sweeter, too, with its own presence that hopefully translates into this beer. Mouthfeel was medium. Mmm, this was beautiful for this time of year! It was spicy without being overdone & while I might not have immediately guessed sweet potato, this was more flavorful than simply a spice-driven pumpkin beer/ale. I could probably have intuited sweet potato/yam, given a few moments of CANtemplation. Yum. I gotta be honest - I REALLY wanted to drink this on either Hallowe'en or our postponed Trick or Treat Night this past H/F, but I also wanted to inClANde it as part of today's mini-horizontal. Dang, this was so good that I now wished that I had purchased a CANple for multiple tastings. Yum. Finish was totes dry, as any beer that includes spices as an adjunct should be expected to be. Miso sad about their no longer being an independent. YMMV.

I picked this up because I thought I'd enjoyed the original Yammy Yammy and because how often am I going to see a S'mores Yam beer? It's not like the shelves are stuffed with them.
And maybe there's a reason for that. No, I'm kidding. It's pretty good but more of a novelty than something I'd want to return to often. I'm giving it a 3.5 with the hope that more brewers will experiment with marshmallow fluff in their beers. So to Platform - you did it, you crazy bastards; you really did it.

12oz can, date stamp of 08/26/19, served in a nonic glass.
Appearance: Pale amber/orange with quite a bit of persistent haze. Thin off-white head with some thick strands and sheets of persistent lacing.
Smell: Cocoa powder, cinnamon, graham cracker.
Taste: Chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg up front, sweet middle (marshmellow, graham cracker), mildly bitter finish. There is a bit of sweet potato in the middle and finish, but it's not strong.
Mouthfeel: Nicely thick, light carbonation, spicy finish.
Overall / Drinkability: Tastes and smells exactly like all the adjuncts which dominate the taste and aroma with maybe the yams/sweet potato a bit too covered up by the other flavors. Tasty and a bit of a dessert in a glass. Paired well with a burger and roasted vegetables, but I think would pair better with dessert. Interesting, but one is enough.
