Served from a bomber into a pilsener sampling glass. The head is somewhat sticky, with big bubbles. The beer is hazy, and of a pale golden color.
This smells like a hop bomb- grassy grassy, or rather like a musty hay bale. The flavor is over the top bitter, and barely allows any yeasty flavors to come through. Astringent aftertaste with a dry funky finish.
This beer is a mess. It is WAY too hoppy for the style, and the hops and funk clash so badly that it is barely drinkable.

Props to joemcgrath27 for this treat. Pours a pale hazy golden colour, two thumbs of huge soapy head with relentless retention and sporadic lacing. Nose is fruity bubblegum hops, and tart citrus rind.uch like the nose with tart citrus rind and fruity yeast esters, hints of bubblegum and candied lemon drops linger. Lighter bodied with loads of carbonation and a touch of dryness on the finish. I thoroughly enjoyed this brew, loads of fruity saison with the perfect balance of hops. Well done.

Tasted 4 June 2015. Pike was one of the breweries that got me into craft. Recently moved back to Seattle, and trying out a few beers I've not had before.
This is a rich, juicy, flavorful saison, full of sweet blooming yeast aromas. It's a little too bitter for my tastes - I know the name says so, but I don't think hops generally add much to saisons. Otherwise tasty.

A - Huge foamy head left tons of lacing. Great! Clear golden orange body + tiny bubbles
S - After an initial blast of Budweisery-ness, the aroma settled to familiar saison territory: yeasty, cracked baguette crust, somewhat sweet. Granulated sugar and rainbow bell peppers. Nice.
T - Too bland for the style. Uniformly bitter. Green pepper, clove, baguette. A bit of fusel also? Hmm.
M - Carbonation is nice, afterfeel is sticky, annoying.
O - This is a hopped-up pilsner barely passing for farmhouse. Cripes, did I get an old bottle? Where's the funk? The floral? The CHARACTER? Boring but not totally offensive, and the great presentation makes this a decent stepstone to stronger examples of the style.

22oz bottle. Nice to see this venerable PAC-NW brewery back in business, at least as far as Alberta distribution goes.
This beer pours a slightly hazy, pale golden yellow colour, with a consistent rising effervescence, and a teeming tower of puffy, broadly foamy, and shiny ecru head, which leaves some chunky hovering cloud lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.
It smells of bready, mildly doughy pale malt, zesty yeast, mild coriander and black and white pepper spice, a twinge of sour lemon, and tame earthy, leafy, and lightly grassy hops. The taste is gritty, grainy pale malt, a further dry crackery character, still edgy yeast, mixed and matched peppercorns, a waning clove/coriander thing, and an adequately bitter leafy, weedy, and grassy hoppiness.
The carbonation is quite active in its probing and polling, fizzy and frothy twin axe attack, the body a solid middleweight for the style, and sort of smooth, I suppose, that acerbic Belgian yeast taking few prisoners, it would seem. It finishes off-dry, the inherent and complex-ish malt doing well to keep the yeast and hops from running too far away with it all.
A decent rendition of a farmhouse ale, the old-world sensibilities really hard to ignore (not that I was trying), and quite drinkable, the 13-proof alcohol not even yet arrived to the party. Worthy of a go, certainly, and not overly hopped, as one might have been expecting.

Poured from a bomber into a plastic Oregon Brewer's Festival tulip sampler. Pours a lovely gold color, crisp and clear, with a billowy head that lingers. The nose is malty and grassy. There are hints of caramel in the background. The taste follows suit. All in all, this medium bodied brew doesn't disappoint for the price. Cheers!

Sort of a different approach to a Saison IMO. Has the fruity aromas, and the full bodied, hazy look with a very bubbly head. Taste is pretty basic upfront but the finish is very dry, almost bitter hoppiness. Im certainly no expert to the style but I can tell that it is a pretty unique finish for a farmhouse. I enjoyed the beer and recommend trying it. It isnt bad.

Pours a huge foamy head on a clear light straw body.
The aroma is honey, wildflowers and a little mint. Nice
The taste is honey sweet, an odd bitterness and hay.
The texture is soft.
It has a weird flavor finish, but it's fine.
