Certainly as black as any beer I’ve seen, but the foam is a light beige. Interesting roast malt aroma with some herbal hops. Frothy in the mouth. Pleasant malty sweetness makes this more of a big hoppy Stout than an IPA. But the serious bitterness finally comes home to chew on the unwary tongue.

Grainy and sugary. Not my favorite combination. It’s like a caramel candy made with a double dose of expresso. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Central Market - Shoreline.

The bartender didn't have any info on this brew, so I don't know if it actually contains squid ink. Served in straight pint glass. Poured a solid black color, no translucence, with over 1/2 inch of tan head that had OK retention and good lacing.

The aroma was fairly typical for the style, a bit of malt, a touch of roastiness, and a big blend of floral and citrus hops. The taste profile was pretty much identical, the clash between the hops and roast highlighting what I don't care for in this style.

The body was the typical medium of the style. Drinkability was OK, if you're a fan of the style, you'll likely rate it higher. Overall, not a bad brew. Worth a shot if you see it, if you really like the style, it's probably worth some effort to seek out.
