I'd read about this place on BA and sought it out while on a business trip to LA. There were fresh bottles of Pliny the Elder and Consecration! I was in heaven.

Danny, the owner and knowledgeable Beer Advocate discussed other fresh brews he'd gotten in including some Sculpin.

There are two walls of coolers of beer including bombers, sixers and singles.

You wouldn't know it from the outside, but this is a really fine bottle shop for craft brews. Danny knows his stuff and his enthusiasm for craft beer really shows.

I'm headed to LA on business in another couple of weeks and definitely plan to stop in again.

This place isn't what it used to be, but it's still a darn good liquor store. A couple years back the selection was better and the prices were outstanding. You could get 6-packs of staple microbrews like Firestone DBA for $5.99. Those days are gone. The prices aren't terrible now but they're no longer a reason to go there. I also miss the funny comment cards they used put with certain beers.

As I said, while it's no longer the gem it used to be this place is still a cut above your standard liquor store for craft beer.

"Best beer selection in the South Bay". Okay, that's really a stretch, especially when one does Total Wine and Select Beer Store on the same trip. Still, there are some things to like about Number One Liquor. There's plenty of parking, which was convenient after searching tiredlessly for spots on the street pror to arriving.

I noticed a few good deals here; the $5.99 six-packs of Magic Hat #9, and the create-your-own 6-pack for $9.99. Did I mention that includes a few Dogfish Head beers? A majority of the beer is kept cold, and one can find Speakeasy, Lagunitas, Shipyard, 8 Wired, Bear Republic, and Eagle Rock on the shelves. Listed prices for the beer and a friendly cashier made the visit just a little more fun.

What can I say. I walked in and saw $5.99 Magic Hat #9 6packs!

I didn't even know magic hat was on the west coast. Needless to say I stocked up! It has to be my favorite brew, and I will be knocking back a whole bunch tonight.

Made my day. And great selection.

Owner Danny was very nice and knowledgable.

He knew about all the crafts in the store.

You would never think from outside it was so nice inside.

He also had great spirits and wine selection.

He takes all credit cards too which is not alway the case at some other places. Pizza across the way too.

A quaint liquor store in North Redondo Beach. The staff here is always friendly and actually remember you when you come for a purchase.

Everyone is always great and actually make great recommendations when asked. The staff is always super friendly, have great beer knowledge, and are always willing to help out.

Wonderful selection for a small liquor store. One of the few places in the South Bay that carries Russian River brews including Pliney and my fav Supplication. Reasonable prices.

One of the liquor stores that I visit regularly for craft beer purchases.

This place has a contract with Russian River. Pliny is readily available and so is consecration, damnation and other "-ations." They just recently placed a 2 bottle limit on Pliny but at least they don't try to hide the bottles in "the back" as many other places do with well sought-after beers.

Well stocked on bombers, six-packs and 12-packs from both American craft and foreign beers.

Not your typical potato chips, soda and cheap beer store.

Open late and across the street from a late night pizza shop- Papa Guido's.

Quite the hidden jewel of South Bay L.A.

Selection: A streamlined list of beers, not quite as extravagant as, say, BevMo, but still a lot of good finds. For example, one of the only stores in the 310 area code (at least that I know of) which consistently carries Russian River brews. Great mix of Ommegang, Avery, Stone, Beer Valley, etc, with a decent mix of Belgians. There are usually 5-6 different seasonal offerings or limited releases, and the list constantly changes.

Pricing: About average from what you'd see between BevMo and Beverage Warehouse. GREAT sales on specific items, such as Beer Valley's Black Flag Stout for $3.99! Usually you'll find at least 3-4 single bottles with a sales tag, and just as many sixer's specially priced as well.

Best thing about this store are the hours. Most fine beer retailers tend to close on the earlier side (BevMo 9pm; Bev. Warehouse 6pm) so this makes a nice stop late night. (Closes Sun-Thurs @ 12, Fri-Sat 2AM)

Overall? Great place for beach BA's to get a fix.

This place looks like a below average liquor store from the outside, but we all know we cannot judge a book by its cover

Located near a McDonalds, I consider this more Manhattan Beach, but I guess this is right on the border of the two cities

They carry a good amount of craft beer including regulars in this area: Alesmith, Green Flash, Stone, and Bear Republic

Expect to pay about a dollar more for each thing you buy

Pretty good liquor store for what it is, but they charge a little more than normal

Have not seen many things out of the ordinary here

Some different anniversary bombers once and a while, but that is about as interesting as things are going to get

I had to write a review for this place because I find myself taking it for granted because it is so close but in actuality it is a great liquor store. The owner is always helpful and is constantly trying to get better and better beer into his place. They carry all kinds of mirco's: Alesmith, Stone, Lost Abbey, Port Brewing, Victory, Avery, Green Flash, Lagunitas, and on and on and on... If you are in the area it is definitly worth a stop. Exceptional selection from a very standard looking liquor store.

Just visited this unassuming little liquor store and I was impressed. The cooler case, although not large, is devoted almost entirely to micro brews. It's as if the owner is a BA or something. Had a great selection of CA micros but also some obscure Czech and Belgian stuff too. Much stronger than Trader Joe's or many of the other large establishments. Good things come in small packages I guess 'cuz this little place rocks. I complemented the guy working the counter on the selection and told him I'd be back, and I will!
