Another review from the week of July 11, 2016 down at Toolbox. Still this is the first review on BA of the beer.
Pours a beautiful red color, like equal parts rose and cabernet in the appearance, thin off white head 1/5". She is a pretty one. Mild amount of hay funk, bright cherry and wood are present in the nose.
Taste deals in a lot of cherry and a little bit of purple berry-ness. Good mix of sweet and tart cherries, the wood seems bright. Not the brett funk experience that the nose led on about. Sourness is always average to higher for a Toolbox wild ale, but it isn't super acidic or problematic in that regard. The alcohol, while sizeable never enters the taste fray. Covers that shit up post haste. Actually drinks effortlessly, feels plenty of levity to it.
Damn this is another beer I wish I was able to stash a bottle or two away of. Unfortunately for me it was only available on draft. Its a great cherry expression with wood and sour qualities to boot.
