A: The beer is hazy amber yellow in color and has some visible particulates floating in suspension. It poured with a finger high off white head that died down, leaving a thin layer of bubbles covering the surface and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of tropical fruit hops are present in the nose—passionfruit seems to stand out in particular.
T: The taste has moderately strong flavors of orange citrus and tropical passionfruit along with a light amount of associated bitterness from the hops.
M: It feels medium-bodied and crisp on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: The name of this APA is quite appropriate as the beer has an interesting blend of aromas and flavors from the variety of hops. It's more like a New England-style APA if there was such a style.

12 ounce can into pit glass, canned on 11/1/2016. Pours fairly hazy/cloudy medium golden/yellow color with a 2 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Nice spotty foamy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge tangerine, lemon, peach, apricot, pineapple, mango, melon, passion fruit, papaya, grapefruit, berry, citrus peel, light pepper/pine, honey, biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/fruity hops and moderate bready malt notes; with great strength. Taste of huge tangerine, lemon, peach, apricot, pineapple, mango, melon, passion fruit, papaya, grapefruit, berry, citrus peel, light pepper/pine, honey, biscuit, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine/herbal/citrus peel/spicy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of tangerine, lemon, peach, apricot, pineapple, mango, melon, passion fruit, papaya, grapefruit, berry, citrus peel, pepper, pine, honey, biscuit, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/fruity hops and moderate bready malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and zero lingering hop astringency after the finish. Light-moderate dryness from bitterness, increasing through the glass. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, fairly crisp, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 6%. Overall this an incredible pale ale! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/fruity hops and moderate bready malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and pretty refreshing to drink with the modest bitterness. Amazingly bright, juicy, and dank hop profile; great malt backbone, without being sweet. A highly enjoyable offering.

Poured out a clear, copper color with a one-finger, off-white head of bubbly foam. It smelled very floral, grassy and piney. Some caramel, too. Nice tropical fruit flavors with a piney hop bitterness. Good caramel maltiness. It was crisp and smooth. A medium bodied ale.

12 oz can from ATL with a April 2018 canning date.
Pours with a very hazy, amber body topped by a tall off-white head that has good retention and that leaves loads of lacing.
Pungent, hoppy aroma.
The flavor has high strength and moderate bitterness for style. Good balance between the hops and malts with notes of tropical fruits, caramel and light bread. Juicy.
Medium+ body with medium+ carbonation.
Overall: drinks like a mild N.E. IPA.

Our local fishwrap's beer columnist recently remarked on the arrival of MIA Beer Co.'s beers in our area & especially on how awestruck she was with the Art Deco graphics on the CANs. I have to agree. I attended CAN School with Crown Bottling during CBC last year in PHL & part of it was on the application of painted labels onto aluminum CANs. The graphics really Pop!, especially CANpared to their paper label CANterparts. I am now doing a brewery horizontal with these CANs & the spent CANs will be earmarked for Jeff Lebo's CANlection.

From the CAN: "Welcome To Miami"; "Bienvenido A Miami".

I keep reading of a turbidity in this beer, which I take to be a personal challenge. Upon CANducting the Crack!, I followed up with a gentle Glug into the awaiting glass. An in-glass swirl raised to fingers of foamy, rocky, bone-white head with moderate retention. Color was an oh-so-slightly-hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7) & I will be watching to see if it clears, indicative of a chill haze. Nose smelled like eco-friendly cleaners - pine and sweet orange! In the Navy, we got away from the chemical solvents in the late-1980s & everything smelled so much better when doing maintenance & cleaning. This was like an amalgam of cleaning agents. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste followed the nose, although the orange peel was stronger with the pine underlying it for support. This was more like an APA than some recent ones which seemed to forget what they were & tasted more like an AIPA, instead. It seemed to be clearing as it warmed, so chill haze was not out of the question. I really liked the commingling of the flavors & the way that they were not overpowering. Finish was semi-dry to dry, very refreshing & quaffable. My fave of theirs, so far.

I tried this beer at Bottlenose brewery. It poured a mostly clear orangish with thin white head that did not leave any lace. The scent had hints of citrus peel. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with citrus presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.

Pours a slightly hazed amber with 2 fingers of pear; colored head. Average head retention & lacing

S: Bready, catty, loads of citrus, fades a little once warm

T: Basically follows the nose, some dryness, but plenty of juicyness too. Plenty of orange & a little mango & woody hops as this warms. Finishes juicy & citrussy with just the right amount of dryness

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, great balance

Drinks so easy, hops are in balance, this may be a candidate for the best beer I've purchased on vacation down in FL & in my top 10 for the year, easily!

NOV/01/16.

Appearance: Pours an orange-yellow body, alive with active streams of carbonation. Medium-small, whitish head.

Smell: Lightly juicy, lightly candyish mixture of tropical fruits, hinting of mango, sweet orange, pineapple and zesty grapefruit with a little backing of florals.

Taste: Lightly bready pale malts with a candied sweetness that introduces the tropical fruits, quite juicy and inviting. Medium bitterness. Scantly resiny with some florals on the back half. Semi-dry finish, lingering fruitiness.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-light carbonation.

Overall: Pleasant, easy-drinking.

12oz can, sample from the brewery.

Hazed sunset orange hue, lots of froth sticking to the glass. Smells bready and a bit orangey with some hop resin in the back. Wet orangey hop flavor, nutty breadiness from the malt, crisp and smooth in a moderate size body. A leveling hop bitterness keeps this beer perfectly balanced. Very drinkable and a beer I'd love to revisit as it is well within the APA style.
