An excellent DIPA with tons of hop aroma and a balanced flavor without the alcohol heat of some DIPA's.

This should be the breweries flagship beer.

Poured on tap to a snifter at First Magnitude Brewing Co. in Gainesville, FL. Fresh batch, tapped just yesterday if I’m not mistaken! Freshhhhhhh.
Appearance (4.0): Half an inch of ecru-colored foam constitutes the head just after a gentle pour, capping a hazy, dark orange-amber (leaning towards amber, with rich orange highlights) body. Lacing comes in the form of thin, webby spots and random, off-kilter, leggy splotches of thin foam all around the glass. A few wisps of heady film remain, but retention is average-ish for a 9+% ABV beer. Gorgeous body.
Smell (4.25): This has a beautiful aroma: mostly nectary citrus, with a funky passionfruit palatte with colored with pineapple and mango undertones. Mostly passionfruit. Some sweet malt base is behind some of the fruit sweetness, like sugar cookies. A little dank resin shows up underneath all of the malt and hops, which is nice.
Taste (4.0): A pretty smooth combo of fruity hops with lightly caramelized malt—sugar cookies, light brown sugar, a light nutty flavor, and a rich, sweet bready character, like banana bread (minus the huge load of banana flavor). Syrupy, nectar-y fruit flavor (overripe pineapple, some papaya thickness with its melony undertones, and a bit of cantaloupe) blend in smoothly. Some red grapefruit juice with a zesty, but understated bitterness on the back end is blended into the rich malt and overripe fruit. The hops character gets stronger and noticeably spicier toward the end, as it warms. No booze to speak of—any alcohol warmth is blurred into the dank undertones of the hop bitterness very smoothly. The beer generally gets a lot more dynamic as it warms—very cool stuff.
Mouthfeel (4.25): The beer’s moderately rich and easy going: smooth carbonation with a light tingle, plus some alcohol heat in the form of an immediate, drying, vaporous feel. The medium-full body is somewhat syrupy but still yields to the alcohol vapor (aided by the carbonation, which foams softly all around as it washes out). Very easy to drink.
Overall (4.0): This is a very solid entry into the DIPA style. It comes off as less bombastic than others, in favor of a smooth, integrated character. The result is a balanced, very drinkable DIPA that’ll please more than just us beer nerds. Nice stuff from a new brewery.

This was released today, I had it right at the brewery. Great beer, my favorite of FM's and I've all their stuff so far (they're a mile away...).
Nice bitter hops kick especially toward the beginning. Some bubblegum and citrus smell in there with the alcohol. There's an interesting malt sweetness at the very end. I plan on having this again.
