Drank on January 1st, 2019. Deep, rich, tart, tons of fruit. Beautiful pour - looks like mildly carbonated grape juice. Terrific nose - the blackberries are incredible.

Funk Factory has done good to use traditional methods with some new world flair, but it was always restrained and artful. Here they throw it out the window and go wild with it all, and frankly the risk was worth the reward! Midnight purple body with a magenta foam ring that slowly fades. Blackberry, raspberry, wine poached cherry, oak, flowers with a slightly acidic finish with some light funk. Taste follows the nose, but the oak is even more expressive, and the blackberry/raspberry combo is set ablaze in intensity by the finish with the light funk, acidity, and supporting fruits. Get some hay and leather in the base with the oak too. Feel is tart, juicy in the fruitiness before quickly drying toward the finish, somewhat acidic and funky. This one stands out in a crowd

2018 vintage; drank 4/26/19 @ Elastic Arts.

At an impromptu bottle share, this was the clear winner for me; fruit forward but complex. A real treat; worth tracking down if you have access!!

750ml cork and cage bottle, 2018 release. Snifter glass. Pours a darker purple reddish body, like a red wine, one finger purple head, a fair bit of retention, no lacing. Smell is big black raspberry tartness, a bit sweet red raspberry, big dry red vinous character, a bit of oak, moderate acetic acidity. Flavour follows, a bit on the sweeter black raspberry side, big dry tannin evoking red wine, moderate acetic acidity, touch of oak and leather, raspberry sweetness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, lower on carbonation, lighter and more like a red wine, dry tannins on the finish. Overall, very tasty, nice complex beer with a big tartness to it, both from the fruit and the underlying beer.
