epic stout here, with kopi luwak coffee and vanilla. pricey but worth it, like most of the packaged wakefield beer out there. this is special though, rich and intensely roasted malt base on this massive heaving and boozy stout, thick like sludge, and as intensely flavored as can be. the coffee though, this is special stuff, and i know its expensive (perhaps accounting for some of the bottle cost?), but this could be any quality coffee in here, its less distinct than i wanted it to be in that regard, but it doesnt diminish the amazingness of the beer in general. the coffee has an almost burnt quality to it, ashtray without the gross, and raw dark chocolate. the malt is super dark and bitter too, and for once in an adjunct stout, i think the strong vanilla is actually needed to balance the malt and coffee, not the other way around, where these bitter or acidic ingredients are needed to tame the sugar and desserty nature so often associated with added vanilla in these. i like that reversal, and when you think about it tasting this beer, its very obviously a departure from the norm. it gets real boozy as it warms, and the body is almost chewy here. the coffee is what i like in coffee beer, fresh and dark and strong, but its not as different being kopi as it could be, which is really my only criticism of an otherwise astounding beer. they could use a new design guy, their labels all look sort of childish and unserious, but the beers inside their bottles and cans are for real. looks can be deceiving...

Poured a black body with one-finer tan head and a buttery, woody, vanilla aroma. Buttery slick and smooth in a medium body with a touch of heat and nice, flavorful coffee notes on the backend that balance a slightly sweet vanilla and oaky beer and all around just really clicks.

Nice beer. I tasted more chocolate than coffee. Vanilla was present. Very smooth desert stout. Tasty!
