From a growler.

Appearance: The body is opaque with a light orange and yellow color. The head is short but fluffy and white. Not much head retention but the white film and ring that is left from the head forms some nice looking lacing.

Aroma: The beer just floods the room with aroma. It has this freshly cut mango scent with some pineapple skin and grapefruit. Aroma this good is nothing short of perfect.

Taste: Up front there is this deep earthy moss and wood character with a nice grapefruit pulp flavor and bitterness. In the middle there is a bit more of that bitterness with just a touch of woody flavor and it finishes off with a nice grapefruit pith character at the end. The aftertaste is more grapefruit. Up front it also has somewhat of an underripe pineapple flavor. After a while a bit of vegetal flavor starts to come through. It also leaves this flavor of confectioners sugar in the mouth after drinking a sip of the beer and waiting. It is an interesting and tasty amalgam of flavors.

Mouthfeel: The beer has this tingling sensation on the tongue. It has good bitterness and carbonation.

Overall: It is simply an amazing beer that just pulls you back to the glass for more great flavors and intoxicating fruity aromas. I would highly recommend it and I would drink it again.

Poured into a teku pint. No freshness date.

A- Pours a hazy medium amber color with a 1/2 inch off-white head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a mostly full sheet of sheer surface foam.

S- Wonderfully bright dry-hopped nose brings to mind apricot, pineapple and orange. Also some resinous piney notes.

T- Juicy, fruity flavor as expected but there's an assertive bitterness that I didn't anticipate. Not a bad thing but these "northeast style" IPAs usually exhibit a lower bitterness. There's an interesting duality between that and the soft feel the lactose brings. Pretty drinkable for the ABV. The guava and the malt sweetness play well with each other too.

M- Soft and creamy from the lactose, then sharp and sticky from the hops. Medium carbonation and a lightish body.

O- A great take on the NE IPA. Glad I get the chance to try some J Wakefield beers after not having any for a while.

Poured from a 16oz can, paired with BET's New Edition TV movie

A- cloudy golden hue, almost opaque. Aggressive pour yielded an inch of fluffy white head. Minimal lacing.

S- guava bomb as soon as you open the can.

T- juicy guava fades to a bitter hop, ends with a honey like sweetness.

M- Medium bodied, with medium carb. Lactose adds frothiness.

O- Overall, great juice bomb.
