L: copper with red overtones, pinkish head, lots of carbonation
S: tart fruit and some spice
T: flowery, tart, fruity
F: very dry finish, all of the mouthfeel is upfront

sour saison type with passion fruit, hibiscus, and tasmanian pepper, sold at the brewery in four packs of pint cans with the australian flag on the label. its a neat beer, something definitely a little bit different, and very refreshing. pinking orange in color, hazy, and with a fast receding foam head. heavy passion fruit in the aroma, tangy and sweet and very fresh, nice with the floral and intense hibiscus too, a combination i am not sure i have seen before. the pepper has a black pepper complexion, although i do not know much about tasmanian pepper(s). the flavor is awesome, fruity and tangy up front, almost like a more sturdy berliner as a base, with lots of body, fresh wheat flavor, and a clean but distinctive sour profile. heavy citrus peel, raw wheat, perfumy hibiscus, and a remarkably authentic passion fruit flavor that starts with the first touch to the lips and lasts well through the finish, without ever getting too sweet or preserved tasting. a peppery element is nice with the yeast, which to me is more saison than berliner, but there are obviously elements of both at play, and the pepper is a cool touch. overall this might be a tad over flavored to drink a ton of, but its a unique and well made beer, like all of the stuff at wakefield. a weird mix of ingredients, but well put together.

From a can, Pours a pink grapefruit juice color, hibiscus steeped water color hazy with no head.
Aroma is of a citrus fruited sour. Definitely get a slight pepper essence in the aroma that cuts through the tartness.
The pepper comes through even more so along with the saison yeast. The passion fruit and hibiscus are there too. It's a very unique beer. It's a discussion beer for sure. It's pretty refreshing, and well made, yet I can't see myself drinking more than one of these at a time.
