Pours very dark, nearly impervious to light. Minimal mocha head that lingers. Really nice coffee aroma mixes with lactose / vanilla. Like a coffee with cream. Really nice, smooth coffee flavor, creamy, light chocolate flavor. Carbonation adds to a creamy texture. Overall, very good, on par with Treehouse double shot and Kane’s beers of this style.

The color of black coffee with a disappointing light brown head. Aroma of coffee & roasted malt. Nice flavor: coffee with cream, lots of roasted malt & some alcohol flavor. I didn’t detect the vanilla. The lactose provided a mild sweetness & it was also slightly salty. Creamy smooth but whatever carbonation was there was exhausting producing a very meek head. Even it’s 8% was not enough to relieve the tongue of its absolute boredom. This beer is flat! If you like old coffee you might Cafe Con Leche

Lighter black body with a brown cap that slowly fades away. Smell and taste are clones: a true marriage of the coffee and cream, that if I closed my eyes I would think it is a cold brew coffee with cream, semi-sweet chocolate, hints of creme brulee, and espresso round out with a roasted malt base. Feel is lush with darkness and creamy with appropriate brightening sweetness. Decent viscosity for a medium bodied stout, very smooth. Blown away with how technically thought out and executed everything aspect of this beer was

Brew #10 from the Hop Culture Juicy Brews box, a 16oz can poured into a snifter.

A: Dark brown pour sits opaque black in the glass with a finger of mocha-colored & tightly-bubbled head.

S: Smooth coffee-house aromas of roasted espresso, vanilla beans, and the impression of creamy milk sweetness.

T: Cold-pressed coffee, vanilla cream, moderate roasted malt profile, impressions of mocha and milk chocolate. Rich and delicate at the same time.

MF: Velvety smooth and very creamy; medium-to-full bodied.

O: A delicious coffee milk stout with welcome flavors of lactose and vanilla. Very nicely done. Comes off more like an 8% milk stout, rather than a big roasty Imperial Stout, which is fine by me.

Pours a deep dark brown, nearly black with a tan head that recedes to a ring around the edge of the glass. Aroma is an interesting combo of the chocolately roasty notes, hint of vanilla, and the coffee throws a hint of blueberry to me. Flavor is more straight ahead coffee stout, coffee, chocolate, vanilla sweetness, a bit of sticky caramel. Feel is a bit thin for me, sweet from the lactose but I wish it was a bit silkier.

Nice beer, more subtle and restrained than I remember J Wakefield stouts being.

Dull black with a short but creamy tan head settling out to a thin curled ring leaving an unusual pattern of very thin columns of bubbles on the glass.

Dichotomously bittersweet, it's got a roasty Charbucks quality that's contrasted by enjoyably sweet notes of mocha and affogato. It's a little milk chocolatey, while also featuring notes of tobacco and a bit of a sassafras or cola tang.

The creamy medium-light body thickens with its slow to emerge yet delicate carbonation before coming to a softly dry finish exhaling a touch of vanilla that has a bit of a sting.

Overall, by J. Wakefield standards, this is a classic stout with relatively mild accents of coffee and sweetness.
