WiLD Sour Series: Here Gose Nothin'WiLD Sour Series: Here Gose Nothin'
Notes: Our Leipzig-Style Gose undergoes a spontaneous fermentation, similar to Belgian-style Gueuze/Lambic beers, and exhibits a complexity of acidic flavor and aroma contributed by wild yeast lactic fermentation. Lemon, lime and other citrus-like qualities are present in aroma and on the palate, which is balanced by the spicy character of added coriander and a mineral-mouthfeel from added sea salt.

Pours a clear amber with a half inch white head that left blotches of lacing. Smell is on the mild side with citrus, funk and sea salt notes. Tastes of lemon, lime, sea salt, coriander, mild to moderate sourness and the very slightest bit of funk. Light bodied, medium carbonation, clean and crisp, lingering tart finish.

Had on tap. Pours clear, gold in color with 1/4inch head. Taste is lemon, lime, dough and sour mix. Really sour, light bodied with moderate carbonation. Nice and light summer sipper. Could have a couple. Destihl impresses me again.

Pours a very light, clear golden color. 2 finger white head. The head retention is quite poor, and there's no lacing on the glass. I do get a lot of carbonation bubbles rising in the glass.
The nose is very light. I do get just a hint of a pleasing sour aroma. I'd wager it's the coriander.
Taste - There's a much bigger pop here than the aroma suggested. There's a nice, pleasing sour flavor from the coriander. I also just get a faint hint of the sea salt. There's also just a very slight sweetness that hits on the backside.
The body is light, and bubbly. The sour feeling lingers.
Solid member of the Wild Sour series. Really good beer to drink on a nice hot summer day.

On tap on Normal. Yellow gold. Light malt with some acidity on the nose and just a hint of coriander. The flavor is tart and salty with a little lime and lemon and coriander. Dry.

Unknown vintage; drank 3/9/15 @ the Yarchives.

Clear orange rust appearance.

Big, noisy off-white head which quickly dissipated; no lace.

Lime, smoky/savory bacon & baking soda nose. Unique!

Medium mouthfeel.

Tart lime & smoky bacon flavors up front; honeyed grains on the finish. A sweet dryness settled on my lips over the course of the session.

Odd but very tasty; a real winner!

Pours very clear and crisp golden wheat or light honey color with a big fluffy white head that goes quickly without much lacing. Smells like a white wine with some citrus and grapey notes. Sour as well. Tastes sour from the git go without any sweetness. Grape again towards the end. Feels like a white wine with even some dryness at the end. Overall a good beer, just wish it had a small sweet note to bring it all full circle. Very sour.

12 oz. can poured into a tulip glass.

L---Mostly clear, light golden color. Nice head had little retention. Minimal lacing.

S---Lime. A little coriander. Some indistinguishable funkiness.

T---Lots of lime. Lemon, sour lemon. Lots of sour.

F---Mouth puckering. Astringent, like a dry wine.

O---Damn good. This is a quenching/puckering beer that'd be good on a hot day after mowing the lawn.

Poured from a 12 ounce can into a shaker pint.

Look - Slightly cloudy golden amber body with a very fast dissipating pillowy white head. Strong streams of bubbles in this one.

Smell - Wet leaves, cut grass, lemon-lime soda, acidic vinegar, dirty gym bag. A lot of funk here.

Taste - Stings the tongue immediately after sipping with a strong acidic sourness, stronger than a Lemon Head but not quite Atomic Warhead. A lot of the funky smells also carry over to the taste. Mellows down into a tongue-coating tartness.

Feel - Medium-thin body with strong carbonation takes a bit of the edge off the sourness. Still, my whole face puckers into itself on every sip. The sour is quite strong.

Overall - I'm completely inexperienced with sour beers, and I'm not sure if they're my thing. This beer is the opposite of a relaxing drink. I'm kinda scared every time I take a sip. But I kinda invite the roughness.

Pouring from a 12 oz. can into a wine glass. This beer pours out straw like in color. It forms a white crown that quickly fades away to nothing, letting you hear every bubble pop along the way. The smell is a classic gose, a bunch of salt that makes you get the feeling of being on a beach. The taste is much of the same. Brings a huge salty and sourness that just bounce off each other while providing some light fruit notes as well. Overall, this is a great example of the style.

Pour is pale golden slightly hazy. Foamy cap dissipates quickly.

Smells of coriander, salt, faint malt

Taste - delicious. Tart & salty, light notes of coriander, lemon, grass, super clean, dry, very refreshing.

Body holds together well, medium light, just right.

Excellent gose and a great all around refreshing sour. I could drink this by the gallon. My favorite of the Wild Sour series by far.

Golden clear color. Not overly tart. Does not have a strong bouquet of scent to it. It’s drinkable if this is your first ‘Gose’ beer. I think they sacrificed some of the characteristics of a Gose to improve drink-ability. The ABV comes in at 5.2 which is on the high end for a sour. It’s a good beginner’’s Sour beer.

A: The beer is slightly hazy yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that died down, leaving a large patch of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of sourness are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste is quite sour and has notes of lemon flavors and hints of saltiness in the finish.
M: It feels light-bodied and tart and acidic on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This gose seems to be a little more acidic compared to other beers in the style, which for an interesting mouthfeel when combined with the tartness and sourness.

A- Light golden yellow body pours from the can with a mostly clear appearance into my glass. The cap that forms on the beer peaks at about a finger high with a foamy texture. Fair head retention and a small ring leaves rare lacing.

S- Well, this is certainly a Gose with a description that is for the most part spot on. The lactic acid is clean and strong in the forefront with citrus notes like lemon and then a hint of lime. Coriander adds a floral, herbal hint and it all has a bit of a briny smell to it.

T- The citrus-esque flavors seem to be stronger with lemon up front and then some lime notes right beside them. Lactic acid bacteria bring a strong tartness which approaches fairly sour by the end of the experience. Fairly salty overall with just a tiny hint of grains and coriander later on.

MF- Light-medium body for this style and the acidity seems to bring a slickness with it perhaps due to a slight lack of texture. A puffy feel and high carbonation. Ends sour.

A quality take on a classic style. The acidity seems to grow a bit too much overall and the ferment might be a bit too clean if that is possible.

12 oz can. Pours a slightly hazy gold with a small white head. Aroma is citrus, salt, wheat and touch of bread. Taste is sour, acidic tart and light sweetness. Light bodied dry finish. Not a fan of the Gose style but glad I tried it.

White head. Golden orange color.

Nice lime citrus flavor up front. Salty and tart. Sour. Lemon citrus as well. Sour patch kids. This has a nice amount of flavor. Ends with no flavor in the finish except more tartness.

Very enjoyable compared to others in this style.

This was poured into a stange. The appearance was a hazy semi - burnt orange to amber color with a quickly dieing head that left no lacing. Nice transparency runs about it. The smell had a sweet lemon and lime rolling into a light coriander. The taste took all of those previously mentioned flavors and added a little salt and had still a nice wheat base to balance. On the palate, this one sat about a light on the body with a fairly decent sessionability about it. Carbonated nicely, this one had a nice sweet sticky sourness rolling over my tongue. Overall, I say this was a pretty good gose. I liked the twist of lemon and lime to make unique. I’d have this again.

Pure gold and topped with a small tan froth. Smells like a salted lemon. Taste is novel with prominent notes of ripe and somewhat funky fruit (green apple, white grape, pear), a dash of salt and lime. Light and way flavorful. This little guy packs a punch.

12oz can. 1/4/17 can date. Appearance: Clear deep golden with a moderate white foam head that dissipates quickly. No lacing
Aroma: Cider vinegar, acetic acid, and a touch of salinity.
Taste: Light bread you malt sweetness with a sharp, acidic lemon and lime flavor and tartness. Acidity is very high for the style with a minimal saltiness. No noticeable hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel: Light and highly carbonated
Finish: Saltiness shows up more on the finish and lingers long after, along with a lime, cactus flavor
Overall: Very nice gose. Acidity is very high, creating a puckering tartness, but has a nice lemon and lime flavor, with saltiness showing up on the swallow to balance the aggressive sour quality.

This beer ours a slightly hazy golden yellow color. The head is a half inch in height, and recedes quickly into sparse lacing. The aroma smells like mop bucket full of used water and lemon pine-sol. The taste is less grimey, but over the top salty, and sour. It is very unpleasant. The mouthfeel is on the lighter side of medium bodied with a watery texture, and very high carbonation. Overall, I like a good gose, but this beer is undrinkable.

On tap at Red Rabbit in Mpls. Lost head quite quickly. Golden and mostly clear. Nice tangy tart with quite a bit of citrus with lemon most notable but not excessive. Tingly and not too tart. Despite no head carbonation noted when drinking.
Lactic wasn't too strong and the wild yeast quality seemed a bit subdued to. However, overall an pleasing and non-intrusive drink.
