Our Leipzig-Style Gose undergoes a spontaneous fermentation, similar to Belgian-style Gueuze/Lambic beers, and exhibits a complexity of acidic flavor and aroma contributed by wild yeast lactic fermentation. Lemon, lime and other citrus-like qualities are present in aroma and on the palate, which is balanced by the spicy character of added coriander and a mineral-mouthfeel from added sea salt.

Canned in mid-February the beer pours out into a Duvel glass a lightly hazed dark orange with a 1/2" layer of ivory foam that recedes fairly soon to leave a small ring around the glass and a thin island of foam in the middle of the liquid. Sipping leaves a mostly clean glass behind with some faint speckles of lacing that soon become drops of liquid. (But as with a Gueuze I didn't expect a persistent head and lacing.)

The aromas are soft and gentle with almost a bit of mustiness from the salt. There are traces of coriander and citrus. No hops show here and, as I said, there is some saltiness in the aroma. (But I'm not sure I'd actually have recognized the musty character as being like a sea breeze without having once spent some time near the Great Salt Lake in Utah where its hard to miss the aroma created by salt in the air.)

The flavors are tart and crisp with some sweetness. There are touches of coriander and citrus (mostly lemon-lime) and salt, but no real sign of hop flavors or bitterness.

The mouth feel is medium bodied with very light but persistent prickly carbonation. The finish starts in the tartness which then recedes into the background leaving a dry, lightly salty feeling that invites another sip.

Overall this is an interesting beer to have tried. While I'm not sure if it could become a regular it does seem to fit the style description reasonably well and most likely it’s a candidate for a once in a while beer for the fridge.

Very slightly hazy old gold color with a modest white head.
The aroma is sour, slightly spicy with a hint of citrus.
The taste is funky, sour malt with a definite lemon/lime note and a bit of coriander.
The body is light, moderate carbonation, very drinkable.
Altogether, this is a very nice example of the gose style, sour but very refreshing. I have to admit to a bias for sours, but this was very pleasant.

12oz canned 8/30/2022

On the pour a small head came and went quickly on a very lightly hazy golden body. Characteristic of a sour.

Aroma is a touch funky like a true wild sour. Pretty nice and crisp smelling despite the wild character. Sorta like a sour cream ale? The spices merge with the funk extremely well. Beyond that it has a bit of typical "beer" smell.

Taste is interesting. Pairs extremely well with most meals and especially bread. Quite corny which is kind of a fun touch, and also is reinforcing my sour cream ale perception. The coriander is again merging with the funk, probably doing quite a bit of smoothing out, but staying quite subtle. Super crisp, but very corny. Not sure if a traditional gose carries this much corn. Definitely more corny than salty and the lime also hides in the lactic acid fermentation.

Feel is crisp and surprisingly full bodied for a sour. Medium finish although quite dry overall. Carbonation is medium.

Tastes like the standard gose, light with some salinity and lemony finish. Acidity, with berries on the end. This didn't do much for me, although admittedly I am not the biggest fan of the style.

12oz can

This is probably the least puckeringly sour of the bunch while also having the least fruit flavor. It's unmemorable in that aspect but probably a good introduction to the style

Lil bit of salt, lil lot of bit of lime

There goes the contents of two twelve ounce cans into a clear glass liter mug. There's not much color, head, nor glass lacing. It's faintly yellow-amber and getting close to being translucent. The smell actually has a bit of sourness as its main character. The taste is sour and a little tart, too. There is also a yeasty component to the taste and mouthfeel. The carbonation is good. There may be irony in that it tastes fresh while tasting sour. The body is light, which works for this style. This could be quite refreshing on sweltering days and nights.
