Our Leipzig-Style Gose undergoes a spontaneous fermentation, similar to Belgian-style Gueuze/Lambic beers, and exhibits a complexity of acidic flavor and aroma contributed by wild yeast lactic fermentation. Lemon, lime and other citrus-like qualities are present in aroma and on the palate, which is balanced by the spicy character of added coriander and a mineral-mouthfeel from added sea salt.

12oz canned 8/30/2022

On the pour a small head came and went quickly on a very lightly hazy golden body. Characteristic of a sour.

Aroma is a touch funky like a true wild sour. Pretty nice and crisp smelling despite the wild character. Sorta like a sour cream ale? The spices merge with the funk extremely well. Beyond that it has a bit of typical "beer" smell.

Taste is interesting. Pairs extremely well with most meals and especially bread. Quite corny which is kind of a fun touch, and also is reinforcing my sour cream ale perception. The coriander is again merging with the funk, probably doing quite a bit of smoothing out, but staying quite subtle. Super crisp, but very corny. Not sure if a traditional gose carries this much corn. Definitely more corny than salty and the lime also hides in the lactic acid fermentation.

Feel is crisp and surprisingly full bodied for a sour. Medium finish although quite dry overall. Carbonation is medium.

Tastes like the standard gose, light with some salinity and lemony finish. Acidity, with berries on the end. This didn't do much for me, although admittedly I am not the biggest fan of the style.

Snifter. Pours a gold champagne color. Smells of smalt, citrus and grass. Malty. Classic sour gose taste with a strong hint of pepper, coriander. Medium carbonation giving a balanced mouthfeel.

12oz can

This is probably the least puckeringly sour of the bunch while also having the least fruit flavor. It's unmemorable in that aspect but probably a good introduction to the style

Lil bit of salt, lil lot of bit of lime

There goes the contents of two twelve ounce cans into a clear glass liter mug. There's not much color, head, nor glass lacing. It's faintly yellow-amber and getting close to being translucent. The smell actually has a bit of sourness as its main character. The taste is sour and a little tart, too. There is also a yeasty component to the taste and mouthfeel. The carbonation is good. There may be irony in that it tastes fresh while tasting sour. The body is light, which works for this style. This could be quite refreshing on sweltering days and nights.

It looks gold, almost amber but with some haze opacity. It smells sour with hints of lime. Nice sour flavor, not sweet or fruity, lime notes throughout. A bit of salt, lime, and spice reminds me of summer time.

L: Filtered, slightly hazy (lime juice), darker straw yellow (lime juice), good carbonation stream (aka nucleation)

S: Fermented barley with overtones of lactic activity and a hint of citrus. I think I'm picking up on wheat too but I'm not sure.

T: More than just beer. All the flavors blend well and complement each other for starters. Salt and lime kick in before I can get a good taste of the malts.

F: Sour, and tart, and salty, and the carbonation really shines. Highly drinkable.

O: I enjoyed it. It's straightforward, no frills and thrills--moderate and drinkable as beer should be.

This is perhaps my 4th or 5th ever gose. I've only ever tried fruit based ones before this (and I loved them) and I wasn't quite sure what to think coming into trying this.

I got it in a can (and realized later that they actually expired 07/29/19), and I was very happy with the beer.

Look: Like a richer Coors Light. It looks substantial to drink.

Smell: Honestly, I didn't quite notice much of the smell for this one. It didn't smell bad, it really just didn't smell much at all. Maybe my sniffer was off today.

Taste: Coming from fruit based goses, this seriously tastes like a "bare-bones" gose. Its as if all other goses I tried could have used this as their base ingredient and then added things accordingly. Really great taste. Gets right to the core of what a gose should be.

Feel: a lot like champagne actually

Hands down my favorite go-to US sour. They nailed their "interpretation of a Leipzig-style Gose". Very dry and crisp without a heavy lingering, obnoxious fruity sour taste. It reminds me of champagne but with better drinkability. It's the most notable beer I've had all year in a world of IPAs.
