Privyet, which is Russian for 'hi' or 'hey', is the base beer for our award-winning, bourbon barrel-aged Dosvidanya®. Even though this beer isn't aged in oak barrels, it greets you with a color as dark as night, a thick, tan head & characters of dark chocolate and roasted malts with abundant fruity esters. Generous hop additions balance the maltiness of this beer, along with a mouthfeel that is rich, creamy, full and smooth. Ypa!

You taste the strong malt up front along with bittersweet chocolate. Coffee and charred sweet molasses, dark fruits are mixed in. Nice viscous mouthfeel and lingering aftertaste. A good one!

Looks just like a Russian stout should. It could use a taller head though. Sticky syrup lace on the glass.
Chocolatey with a slight nutty presence. Simi-sweet with a little bit of sourness on the aftertaste. Almost not enough to mention.
At 11.4 ABV you'll feel better after you finish one.
It's a pretty good one.

Pour is jet black with a big, lasting, cinnamon head. Good lacing.
Nose is roasted malt, honey, coffee, dark fruity esters
Taste is charred malt, roasted malt, fresh coffee, latte, vanilla, bittersweet dark chocolate. Very complex. Delicious
Smooth, creamy, thick body with medium low carbonation

Lovely....lovely....lovely...

Deep rich waves of super roasted malt and dark roasted cocoa dominate the senses...

It's like nibbling on a 90% cacao chocolate bar in liquid form...

I picked this up on a whim and immediately went back and bought more.

This is the base for Dosvidanya so I must try that one next...

Canned 12/14/20

It’s odd, of the 6 beers I’ve had from Destihl, they’ve all been in the sour family. So it seems like quite a jump going to a RIS from all those. I tend to mostly enjoy the beer I’ve had from them, and you don’t see very many RIS’ around so I figured picking this one up was a no brainer

Pours midnight black with a thick finger of tan head that fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing

Oh man, the roast is real here in the nose, almost to the point of char. I’m picking up on aromas of charred oak, burnt bread, heavily roasted coffee, dark chocolate, raisin, and a touch of toffee

In taste, the intense and slightly bitter roast still tracks, but things are sweeter up front. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting roasty coffee, dark chocolate, chewy caramel, vanilla, and a touch of rye. The swallow brings notes of burnt bread, spicy rye, roasty coffee, dates, sweet toffee, toasted oak, and dark chocolate

A full body pairs with gentle tingling carbonation, resulting in a thick and velvety beer. Finishes slightly sticky with an increasing roast to slowly dry it out

This is awesome stuff here. Everything I’m looking for in the style and nice to kick back and relax with

Purchased as a four-pack from a local distributor for $9.99. Poured into a snifter glass.

L - Pours a viscous motor oil black, with an incredible three-finger mocha head that coats the edges of the glass nicely. Slow to dissipate.
S - Rye chips and pumpernickel up front. Certain notes of espresso, cacao, and pipe tobacco lay our base. Also picking up a lot of ethanol throughout - minus a bit for this.
T - STRONG burn and warmth before the sucker punch of coffee, dark chocolate, and molasses. Hints of fig and charred woods pop up, and the experience finishes with a mellow pumpernickel.
F - Again, very strong! Definitely gives your body a warm feeling all over. Velvety, filling, and full-bodied. Creamy at first, then finishes each sip with a rather chewy take.
O - What an incredible beer! All the coffee and chocolate notes common to Russian imperial stouts, but with a very unique feeling and scent! A beer best had for sitting around a bonfire with good friends after a long day. My only gripe with this beer is the alcohol-forward flavor. It almost discouraged me from finishing the glass, unfortunately. This being said, it's a rich and flavorful brew that I will definitely buy again. Highly recommend.

Base beer. Nice and raw. Bitter. Roasty.
Out of the can, roasty with a tasty malt bill. The bitter is on the throat. Thick, creamy mouthfeel. The ABV isn't hidden. That's fine.

Da. Ya ne zniu pamymia pa ruski. It's St. Patrick's day and I had a nice Masthead stout earlier. That and this one were the only holiday appropriate drinks I had on hand. Maybe some Jameson.

This pours black with nice fizz that continues throughout. The aroma is not profound except how clean plus a little roasty it is. Not being aged on anything is kinda cool for a high ABV brew. Raw. It has a deep malty roasty taste that sticks with you.

Recommended. Very cost effective too. I will seek out more.

Canned on 12/14/20. 12oz can poured into a tulip. Pours almost black; small khaki head that fades leaving solid retention and lacing. The aromas are malt forward along with some hints of chocolate and dark fruits. The flavors are bold. Lots of dark chocolate. Some raisins. Mild and subtle hints of coffee. Nice solid bitterness. Low sweetness. Solid malt backbone. Subtle warmth in the finish, but the alcohol is ultimately well hidden considering the ABV. Mouthfeel is full-bodied with moderate carbonation. It's fluffy, smooth and dangerously drinkable despite the ABV.

This is a pretty solid Russian Imperial Stout. It's a classic and traditional example of the style. It's big and bold while remaining balanced. It's a nice "base beer" as well. I like it.

Had it on tap at the local World of Beer. Pours into a snifter.

Deep dark brown color with good head and nice lacing. Strong smell and taste of dark chocolate. Roasted malt and toasted pumpernickel. Some berries. Nice smooth feel. Good beer to sit and enjoy a Stanley Cup playoff game!

This one pours dark, which is a hint of what’s to come. The beer features dark chocolate, toasty malt and raisin flavors offset by the hops and the slightest bit of carbonation. For a beer with a 12% ABV it lacks a strong boozey presence. Goes down smoothly. Definitely looking forward to having another one of these in the future.
