vintage 2019; 16oz tall boy can poured into stemless snifter.

Appearance: black body with tall cap for dark brown head. Drops down to absolutely not head after a little bit of time. not even a single bubble. Booze legs present for sure.

Smell: vanilla and spicy rye whiskey note with oak are abundant in the aroma. Light roast malts & milk chocolate.

Taste: Roasty base stout. Big rye whiskey. Deep dry earthy oak. Lighter vanilla flavors than I expected. The rye whiskey slightly overpowers the vanilla. Tobacco and molasses. Lingering bakers chocolate / cocoa and huge rye; the finish is a balance between bitter & spicy with lighter sweetness. Really nice flavors just like the rye Dosvidanya, but I was wanting more of a deep and rich vanilla flavor in this stout. The vanilla seems to be more balanced than being the standout, but as it warms up the vanilla starts to pop significantly more adding some nice richness.

Mouthfeel: medium almost full bodied beer with lower carbonation level. Adequate carbonation. Thick and oily body. Not a hint of booze harshness; Spicy & warming alcohol presence that you would expect for the abv. This is a really great sipper.

Overall: Well I walked into my local beer store the other day and saw a ton of this on the shelf; so looks like I lucked into getting to try this stout!!!! I am really excited to try this Dosvidanya varient. I am a huge fan of Rye Whiskey Dosvidanya since I trying it in 2015. This stout really is huge with in your face rye flavors. I wish that there was a bit more vanilla flavor to add some extra decadence to the stout. It probably had more vanilla when it was fresh, but wow the rye barrel is just massive and very expressive right now. To the point that you feel like the base stout was a rye stout aged in rye whiskey barrels for a fairly substantial amount of time. If the vanilla is want you want out of the this stout, don't bother drink this stout at colder temperatures... the warmer the stout gets the more vanilla you will taste.

16oz can. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, light brown head of bubbly foam. It left sticky rings of lace on the glass. It smelled of roasted malt, vanilla, whiskey, dark chocolate and coffee. Strong whiskey taste with chocolate, vanilla and hints of coffee.

Pours a black color with a small tan head that lasts quite a while. Aroma is chocolate, vanilla and alcohol. Tastes of sweet vanilla and bourbon. Very smooth. Good mouth feel.

This beer is so underrated! Wonderful balance of vanilla and rye. Lots of chocolate on the back end. Very dry finish. A wonderful balance of barrel and adjunct. Less vanilla than a BCS vanilla but more than a Rev or Vanilla Black Note Id say. Worth seeking out.

Wow. The vanilla adds a whole new layer.
Pours a pitch black with minimal head.
Smells great. Vanilla isn't super prevalent but the rye smell comes through.
Lots of roast flavor and rye barrel character. Vanilla is nicely integrated already.
Quite smooth and has a good thickness.
Overall probably one of the most underrated barrel aged stouts. Vanilla variant is special.

Pours a dark mocha colored foamy med-small head with fair retention for the abv, a bit of lacing, nice legs, inky black thick beer

Nose brings tons of malt, dark malts and toasted biscuity malts, a little toffee caramel, plenty of roasted malt and some roasted coffee, thick fudgey dark chocolate and a little baking spices into cookie dough, biscuity wafer cookie dough, some vanilla, raw earthy vanilla as well as some barrel notes, buttery oak and bitterscotch, into light rye whiskey, light perfumey alcohol and flash of dark fruits as it warms

Taste brings a lot more of the same but vanilla up front, loads of juicy raw vanilla, earthy vanilla, into dark chocolate and thick fudgey cocoa, some roasted malt and roasted coffee, then sweet characters, a little nougat, caramel, some toffee and a little butterscotch even, smooth but a bit hot alcohol yet not fusel, getting into more cookie dough and baking spices but very low on the licorice side, bitterness is fairly high, roasted malt bitterness and some spicy hops, barrel adds more baking spices and vanilla as well as some buttery oak and light rye whiskey but not a lot, nice buttery oak and toffee coming again late, also getting more fudgey, somehow a bit dry on the finish, although a little sticky, and more alcohol tingle

Mouth is fuller bod, thick heavy chewy and rich, medium carb, fair warming tingly alcohol

Overall quite nice, great base stout which I already knew, lots of nice vanilla, good barrel, whiskey was alittle light but OK, alcohol was definitely present, but at 12.5% it's hard to hide, enjoyable sipper

Bottled November 2017; drank 2/2/18 @ the Yachives.

Black/brown appearance.

A violent pour yielded a huge, noisy tan head; a thick curtain of tree-rung lace.

Vanilla, mild raspberry, faint chocolate & faint bourbon notes in the nose.

Creamy medium thick mouthfeel.

Vanilla, oak & mild bourbon flavors up front; chocolate notes on the finish.

Smooth & easy to drink, if a tad boozy. I'd have another...
