Fasten your space helmet because this stout will quickly have you orbiting the moon. Notes of roasted and chocolate malts round out our milk stout's sweet side, creating a well-balanced beer with a smooth mouthfeel and creamy tan head. One sip of this medium-bodied stout will have you jumping over the moon for another. Cheers!

I got a can of this beer off the single shelf from the Woodman's in Onalaska, Wisconsin just outside LaCrosse. It poured an opaque dark with ecru head that is not leaving much lace. The scent had subtle roast and chocolate malt notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with rich chocolate presence and subtle roast notes. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a great beer.

Appearance: Pours a nearly jet black color with a moderate tan head. SRM of 23-24. (4.00)
Aroma: Strong aromas of rich chocolate upfront. Rich chocolate of all types. Milk, some dark, but ultimately lots of chocolate here. A mild to moderate bitterness comes through the middle. Mostly chocolate here though. (4.25)
Flavor: The flavor follows here with strong flavors of chocolate, milk chocolate, cream. Also some dark chocolate. This follows into a mild to moderate dark chocolate or espresso roast, The rich chocolate is overpowering. Appropriately balanced by espresso roast, but this one leans malty. (4.00)
Feel: Heavier bodied. Moderate carbonation. Leans malty and sweet. (4.00)
Compared to Bent Paddle's Black 3/29/21: Pours a similar color with a stronger head. More chocolate on the aroma. Stronger and maltier with less coffee roast.
Compared to Castle Danger's George Hunter Stout 4/18/21: Pours a similar color with a lighter and milder head. Stronger aromas of chocolate. Less dark malts, nuts, nougat, and syrup. Stronger roast and less malty.
Compared to Deschutes Obsidian Stout 5/27/21: Pours a similar color with a milder head. Stronger aromas. More dark chocolate, chocolate, and creamy maltiness. Less dark malts and smoke. Sweeter, maltier, and creamier. More balanced and drinkable. Overall, decently similar. Winner: Moonjumper
Overall: Quite an impressive Milk/Sweet Stout. This one is great in all attributes. The appearance is beautiful, aroma is full and chocolatey. The flavor doesn't dissapoint and follows with more strong chocolate. Just enough roast to tickle the taste buds, but not enough to give it cleaning coffee roast. Rather it leans heavy and sweet. Very appropriate and impressed with this beer. (Final Rating: 4.13)

Appearance: Black glass (ruby brown with serious back light), thin halo of tan head. No lacing.
Aroma: Coffee, roasted malt, sweetness, slight lactic note.
Taste: Roasted barley quickly goes sweet and malty, clean profile, no hops noted beyond a slight earthy note.
Mouthfeel: Medium, almost medium heavy body, low carbonation, silky texture.
Overall: Solid beer, reminds me of Zilker Coffee Stout, well made, easy sipper.

Pours a jet black with a tan head the dissipates quickly. The smell is sweet chocolate and black coffee with slight hints of toffee on the finish. The taste is a semi sweet chocolate- like hershey's special dark- the coffee shines through in the middle and it has a satisfying bittersweet finish. It's nice and creamy smooth mouthfeel. Overall the best milk stout I've had so far.

Light carbonation with a just above average body. Has a slick creamy feel, overall a very nice feel.
Aroma is roasted malt, roasted coffee beans, cream and dark chocolate
Taste is similar to aroma, sweet but far from too much. Perfect balance between sweetness and coffee bitterness.
Overall an excellent attempt at the style, would look for this again

12oz can with a date on the bottom
Look is very dark root beer, no head sticks around. Smell is roasted chocolate malts and booze. The can says "Dark, Sweet, Silky"... it does have a lot of dark roast flavors (oak, espresso, dark chocolate), with a sweet finish, only lacking the powdery smooth feel I associate with milk stouts. It's creamy, but not more than your average cream ale.
Tasty, but not what I was expecting. Not sweet and smooth like most milk stouts, this stuff has a depth of abrasive character. Beer made for a whiskey sipper

Normal Ill. is halfway from Chicago to Springfield (or Iowa) in the middle of the plain normal Bread basket of America.
my first review from Destihl, this milk stout has nice aroma but finished mid-pack at best.
a) dots of lace over short-lived tan head over a standard brown body, low carbonation.
s) best part, big vanilla, coffee, chocolate without being over-done or cloying.
t) weaker tea taste that never rises to full flavors of a milk stout like Left Hand can do.
f) Thin, low carbonation, weak.
o) Even the water is missing something edgy that we like to experience in beer - too soft!
