A classic German-style Hefeweizen with fruity aromas and flavors of banana, clove and vanilla and a fuller mouth feel with appropriate yeast haze.

Cloudy, pale gold appearance with a small white head and light lacing. Aroma showcases the trademark phenols of the style: banana and cloves. Taste is soft fruit, spices, yeast and grain. Noticing a bit of vanilla in the aftertaste. Medium bodied, softly carbonated mouthfeel. Need a fresher sample to be honest.

From a 9-oz. pour at Ankrolab brewery. Cloudy from yeast over a yellow-straw body topped by a white soapy head.
Strong yeasty smell of banana and spicy clove with bready malt and mild floral hops.
Semi-sweet with low bitterness, fruity esters lead the way with banana and spicy clove flavors. Bready malt with some toast and grapefruit on the back side. The finish lasts on with clove and spice lingering on.
Medium full body, a bit rich for the style with lots of carbonation. Soft feel from the CO2. Not as refreshing as some examples with a bit to much yeast. Enjoyable on tap.

Poured from 12 oz can. Very bubbly. Great look, golden, bright, and slightly opaque. Nose is fairly plain for wheat, not as spicy as other hefe’s. Taste is more plain as well, not as much banana and coriander flavors as others. Overall, refreshing wheat beer on the lighter side of things. I just like mine with a bit more flavor and nose.

This is a very refreshing and banana forward Hefeweizen. I am not super experienced in the category of Hefeweizen so I’ll compare this to the examples I have had in Live Oak and Paulaner. Destihl puts their own take on a classic German Hefeweizen in a good way. Appearance is hazy with an amber orange color. Taste of banana, clove, wheat, and a hint of vanilla. Finished crisp and refreshing while not being too heavy. Overall, Destihl, did a pretty good job with Weissenheimer. Extremely refreshing on a hot day and just as enjoyable during this Chicago winter.

Summer is here in Florida with enough humidity to say you can "wear the air." It is a propitious time to enjoy a refreshing hefeweizen. This one is brewed up north in Illinois in a town called Normal. Poured from a freshness dated 12 oz. can: deep and largely clear and bright golden hue with a quickly fading white head. Fairly conventional and normal so far.
The aroma showcases some of the classic hefeweizen aromas of spice and clove and some faint banana.
The flavor comes somewhat close to that classic German Hefeweizen flavor I have come to expect. The flavor exhibits hints of bubble gum, lemons, and faint clove and banana but fails to match the magic of the original Germain standard. As great as American brewers are, I have yet to have hefeweizen that matches the German examples. This is a well-made wheat ale that is refreshing and flavorful, but next time I will reach for an import.
The mouthfeel does have the sharp carbonation you would expect, but there is a faint sourness that lingers on the palate.
Overall, this was enjoyable and well worth seeking out, especially during the hot summer months; though I was hoping for more flavor.

A very tasty version of this style - the banana clove taste that you'd expect was prominent. A robust mouthfeel and taste - enjoyed it.
