Notes:
This West Coast/Rocky Mountain-style India Pale Ale is back-hopped for a more intense hop bitterness, flavor and aroma without the balance of caramel malts like our Midwest-style Baldock IPA. It has medium-high alcohol content, high fruity, floral and citrus-like American-varietal hop character, deep golden color and medium maltiness.

Pours a dark golden orange with a single finger of off-white foam.
Biscuits, caramel, grapefruit, and rather floral.
Citrus, mainly grapefruit, caramel malts, herbal/floral notes, and bready/biscuit like character.
Light-medium bodied, medium carbonation, biscuity, dry finish.
Overall, I was expecting more out of this IPA. Nothing to write home about, but well balanced and tasty nonetheless.

Light floral nose. Pours brilliant amber under a ½” foam tap that produces thick lace. Herbal spicy hops blend with citrus and a suggestion of mint dominate the palate with an herbal hoppy astringency on the finish with an assertive but not harsh bitterness. Medium body and carbonation.

The Vertex from a can is good. The beer poured a slightly hazy amberish with thick head that is leaving much lace. The scent carries pine with hints of citrus. The taste is a decent balanced IPA....not too bitter....has the pine as the primary.. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall I think this is a very good beer and sessionable.

on tap at the brew pub in champaign. the bartender poured it until there was no head in the glass, just beer to the rim, gotta like that. the body was a pretty clear amber orange with moderate bubbles rising. smell was kinda weak but there was citrus present. taste was better than the nose. big citrus punch to it. some caramel malt to blend and round over the bitterness. mouthfeel seemed kinda thin, although there was plenty of dryness on the finish and well blended. overall this is very drinkable and would order again.

LOOK: Copper-gold with a thick 2 finger white fluffy head that leaves a ton of lacing as I drink this down.
SMELL: Floral hops with a piney-citrus backbone. Hard to say but it almost smells....smooth
TASTE: Hoppy and bready at the same time. Super smooth, a different IPA experience from most.
FEEL: It's just smooth. The carbonation blends perfectly with the malt thickness to give a velvety smoothness that makes for a dangerous drinker.
OVERALL: This is a very good IPA, but it is different from most out there. Best way to describe the difference is: smooth. It all just blends together in a velvety IPA way. Worth trying, worth buying again. Would sip this in the summer.
