12 oz can poured into a Destihl tulip.
6.3% ABV, 76 IBUs

A - Vertex's bright clarity displays the deep copper color beautifully while it's eggshell cap of foam lays thick lacing on the glass for a sexy looking beer!

S - Destihl's Vertex IPA has such a pungent hop aroma, it's almost like taking a whiff from a bag of hop pellets; green and earthy with grass notes and floral attributes. A solid malt backbone provides some balance of honey sweetness with thick, golden toast.

T - Mango and honeydew escape the aroma but big hop fruitiness explodes on the tongue upon the first sip. Lighter earthy tones follow up but the beer's hop profile does a near 180 from its aroma. Malt 'balance' is still there, however; golden toast and a touch of light sweetness.

M - Smooth malt sweetness gives the beer a little beef to it before sharp and dry bitterness arrests the tongue on the finish - dead on for the style.

O - A really solid IPA, Destihl's Vertex brings the hop punch through and through with an in-your-face aroma, fruity flavor, and lasting bitterness on the tongue. Well done to say the least.

Piney resin aroma, velvety mouthfeel on the crystal malt, with a citrus/grassy finish. Mild, clean bitterness lingers long after the sip with a grapefruit note.

A really enjoyable IPA that relies on pine, resin, and grassy notes and a satisfying linger of bitterness.

Gorgeous copper/amber color. A very clean and subtle IPA that packs a thorough-bodied punch.

Pours an effervescent honey color with 2 fingers of rocky cream colored head. Insane lacing & head retention

S: Citrus, mango & breadyness

T: Follows the nose, dryness, & a little lime up front. Mango, tangerine & light breadyness as this warms, a little pineapple as this warms. Finishes with pineapple, tangerine & a little grapefruit

MF: Medium body, slight carbonation, great balance

A very nice IPA, well worth picking up

Light floral nose. Pours brilliant amber under a ½” foam tap that produces thick lace. Herbal spicy hops blend with citrus and a suggestion of mint dominate the palate with an herbal hoppy astringency on the finish with an assertive but not harsh bitterness. Medium body and carbonation.

First draw off the keg so I can't give the beer too harsh of a rating on appearance. It's a hazy amber brown with off white foam that laces nicely in glass.

Aroma is very nice peachy and floral more than citrussy as billed. Excellent.

Flavor follows aroma. Peach adds to slight malty sweetness that is more than balanced by hop bitterness. No flaws.

The aroma makes the beer an excellent experience. Great flavor and mouthfeel. I will seek this beer out again.

12 ounce can into tulip glass, bottled on 9/8/2015. Pours slightly hazy/cloudy golden orange color with a 2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty foamy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big apricot, mango, melon, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, honey, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate malt sweetness; with great strength. Taste of big apricot, mango, melon, grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, honey, toasted bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Good amount of pine/citrus rind bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of apricot, mango, melon, grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange peel, pine, honey, toasted bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying/astringent flavors after the finish. Good amount of dryness from bitterness as well. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, sticky/resinous, and lightly creamy mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent IPA! All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus/tropical/piney hops and moderate malt sweetness; and very smooth and easy to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

(Served in a tulip glass)

A- This beer pours a ice tea brown color with a creamy/bubbly light beige head that sticks to the glass and has a slow dense carbonation

S- The green pine needle aroma is herbal and turns more woody as it opens up and has a slight dark quality to it. There is a hint of green citrus rind in the hops profile at the finish.

T- The green herbal taste has dried green citrus rind notes and a full slightly pungent bitterness. The hops are full but well roundend and the mellow pungent bitterness lingers. There is a faint white wine and green fruit note that comes through when the beer opens up.

M- The medium mouthfeel has a gentle carbonation and no alcohol heat noticed.

O- The big full but gentle hops have lots of nice pungency with some dark qualities and smooth bitterness. I didn't get many of the typical Citra qualities and the malt flavor was well hidden. Goes down pretty smooth for such a big beer.

LOOK: Copper-gold with a thick 2 finger white fluffy head that leaves a ton of lacing as I drink this down.
SMELL: Floral hops with a piney-citrus backbone. Hard to say but it almost smells....smooth
TASTE: Hoppy and bready at the same time. Super smooth, a different IPA experience from most.
FEEL: It's just smooth. The carbonation blends perfectly with the malt thickness to give a velvety smoothness that makes for a dangerous drinker.
OVERALL: This is a very good IPA, but it is different from most out there. Best way to describe the difference is: smooth. It all just blends together in a velvety IPA way. Worth trying, worth buying again. Would sip this in the summer.

A - Hazy burn orange with 3 fingers of oily and sunday head that has nice cling and retention all the way down.

S - citrus hop overload, grains, malts, bread dough.

T - Hop forward, fruity citrus flavors - orange, grapefruit, hop resin, really smooth mouth feel - medium to full bodied.

O - This is a really solid IPA that pushes the limits of the hop experience - nicely balanced with just the right touch of malts. First offering I've had from this brewery and I'm impressed.

Looks extremely good and smells pretty good. Huge pour with fantastic head and lace. Nose is citrus hops with fresh and pine notes. Pine and citrus bitterness controls the taste early but is eventually brought into balance in the finish and aftertaste.

This is solid for the style and reasonably drinkable at 6.3 and 76.

Handsome sudsy pour in the Troubadour tulip with plenty of lacing and a mid-amber color. Spritzy on the tongue. Inviting aroma of honeysuckle. Malty body, even a little sticky.

Fairly sweet to go along with the flowery flavors. Intensely orange flavored. You can tick off the fruits in this one-- mango, apricot, pineapple-orange, fresh figs. Overall this is on the perfumey side, but I"m not complaining. Moderate bitter aftertaste with a piney taste.

This is a broadside of fruity hops, and quite sippable. And why not-- wallow in the stuff! From the 12 oz can purchased at the Community Co-op in Bellingham.
