Very nice place, and pretty happening. We didn't order food, but we sat near the kitchen, and everything coming out looked awesome. Beers were true to style, but nothing super stellar. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable. Would visit again when in town.

I hadn’t been in Cleveland for a few years and was glad to be back.

This is a really nice spot that was fortuitously close to my hotel.

As you enter the bar room, the long bar is to your right. It must seat a good 35 or 40 folks. There are also tons of tables including some nice long tables for groups. There are TVs above the bar and an outdoor area as you enter.

I like the look of this place. High ceilings, nice fixtures, lots of wood, windows, etc. I’m also kind of a fan of the communal sinks outside the downstairs bathrooms. Reminds me of the Publican in Chicago.

The food was solid and creative. I had some great chorizo tacos with goat cheese. This was a dryer Spanish style sausage that went great with the creamy cheese. I also had some really nice flatbread.

They have a nice house draft list. I’m guessing about 20 beers. Lots of US IPAs and Belgian inspired choices. However, they also offered a good ESB and an even better dunkel, so kudos there.

Service was fast and friendly. They were too busy to chat much about beers but were there with recommendations when I needed a refill.

They had a great crowd on a rainy Saturday and I was glad to be part of it.

Nice place within walking distance of the ballpark and the arena. Super busy, so I can’t really ding the service. The beer was much better than I thought it would be. Usually these heavy foot traffic places suffer from a lack of quality. They don’t.

Started our one night Cleveland pub crawl right here (very convenient to our downtown hotel). Pretty busy for a no-ball-game Wednesday on the 4th Street strip but we got right in. They had around 15 taps of their own beer available with a fairly typical non-destination brewery mix of IPAs, lagers, saisons, etc. Decent stuff - I especially liked their most adventurous offering which was a wine barrel aged Bierre de Miel. Had some really nice Charcuterie choices which paired well with the beer.

Butcher is pretty much all communal seating, with a pretty long bar as well.

They have a moderately sized beer list of their own brews, with a wide variety of styles, with some unique takes on the classics, like a white stout, and an orange blossom Saison. Beers are okay to good, but nothing to bring people from far and wide. What a nice place it would be to live near--but that can be said about two dozen other joints in the immediate vicinity.

The food here continues to push the trend that many of the more modern, sustainable focused restaurants are, by using all parts of an animal and classing them up a bit. While they have a good amount of charcuterie to choose from, which is great to nosh on, the chicken wings are real deal Southern style slow barbecue. These are definitely the best in Ohio and really one of the only places around here you can find good, truly smoked barbecue.

This place gets crazy packed an hour, or two, leading up to a game. So unless you know what you are doing, and are only going for a drink expecting to stand shoulder to shoulder in a walkway, make sure you plan ahead and see what's going on downtown.

Overall, the atmosphere is fantastic. Location is good, aside from parking of course... As with anything on E 4th downtown. They have some lots, but expect to pay at least $10 unless you luck out with street parking.

Beer wise, I was underwhelmed. We tried eight different options from IPA's, Cream Ales, Hefe's and Stouts. The beer was just OK. I have no desire to return, especially with so many better options in Cleveland.

Did not try any food as I was really just interested in the beer. What was coming out of the kitchen did look good, though.

While it may be worth a stop if your in the area, I would not go out of my way to come just for the beer.

Visited a friend in Cleveland and walked into this on a whim and for my love of small town breweries. The interior is amazing, putting behind the very flimsy screendoor that you first pass through, The interior is rustic, the building is more than a hundred years old and hearkens back to the days that Cleveland was an industrial hub. A grand, wrought iron stair case leads down to the basement where the brewing is down as well as the restrooms which themselves were unique as there were no separate men or women restrooms. There were stalls, which basically are small rooms, with males and females on opposite sides. There is one large troth sink in the middle of the room which both genders share. This set up is so unique that I had to describe it.

Moving on, food, this place functions as a butcher shop during the day but I did not buy any meat. I did have some food, which was expensive but that's more or less normal for brewpub restaurants. Eat before you come here. The beer is excellent, I had the Albino Stout, Fall & Oats Stout and the Quad Workout. I have written separate reviews for the beers but the Albino Stout was impressive enough for me to get a growler of it.

Overall, this is another great small town brewery that I would frequent often if I lived in Cleveland.

Stop #441 on my world brewery tour.

Arguably the most beautiful old world interior of any brewery in North America. Can't think of a location I've ever been in such historic awe at. Still debating if huge screen B&W TV's above the bar is a good thing. Certainly added to the ambiance.

Had two flights and wings off the house smoker (which were in line with the exceptional wings from the Brew Kettle down 71). Kolsch, Pumpkin Saison, Oktoberfest, Raspberry Wheat, Session IPA, Session Wheat IPA, White IPA, India Black Cream Ale.

I got into a morbid discussion about ebola and disease with a couple next to me at the bar and was not focusing on the beer. Can say they were all very good and went down well.

Will eat a proper dinner here on my return and will plan extra time to soak in the atmosphere.

Brand new place just opened Aug 2014. I just happened upon it while looking for a place to grab some lunch. I was very pleased with my discovery. Look and feel of the place is great, service is knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The food selection is awesome, and very fresh. The beer, despite the fact that they are brand new, is already really impressive. They have a great variety of styles, and for the most part their beers are solid. Highly recommend!!
