Huber Weisses poured with a large thick head that was long lasting. As it started to dissipate, the head gained a lot of peaks and valleys. The color was very straw yellow, a 3 or 4 on the SRM scale. It is pretty hazy, but that is common for hefewiezens.

A big yeasty smell is the most present scent, but I swear I detect some licorice lingering in there as well. The flavor is less nuanced than I'd expect from a hefewiezen. There's big, obvious wheat flavor, and some of that yeast comes through as well. I do not get any banana or clove, even though they are common for the style. It's a pretty simple flavor. Also, it's pretty highly astringent; almost immediately after a swallow, my mouth is left feeling dry.

This is a short review, but there just isn't much to this beer. I'm not a fan of Hefeweizens in general, and I can't imagine I'd ever go for this again.

Hazy golden hue with a nice aroma. The beer is very smooth and mild with just a hint of citrus tones. Great feel and lingers well. This is a strong entry in hefeweizens variety. Nice beer.

From the can, it pours a hazy golden amber with a large classic weissbier head. Fluffy and long lasting. Definite banana and clove in the nose. The mouth gets some banana as well. Yum!

Hazy deep golden color with white head. Aroma has the classic banana and cloves plus some vanilla and citrus. Taste is also classic but also has a light marzipan, slightly on the sweet side with a spicy finish. Body is creamy but also well carbonated. A really nice surprise, one of the best hefeweizen I had recently.

On-draught at an alphaus near Innsbruck, Austria.

Cost was .5L/3.80 euro. Regrettably brief notes below:

A: Beautifully frothy white head. Soft-looking. Even. ~5 minute retention. Messy lacing.

Body is a bright yellow-orange of nice vibrance. Hazy but translucent. No yeast is visible within. Turbid.

Sm: Banana esters. Fresh wheat. Ideal sweetness. No orange peel, clove, or lemon.

T: Wheat. A hint of banana. Fresh barley. Balanced, though simple even for a hefeweizen, lacking the subtle yeast profile of the best beers in the style. Well built nevertheless.

Mf: Light-bodied and refreshing, with a classic smooth wet texture. High carbonation for the style. Could be softer.

O: Definitely drinkable and enjoyable. A worthwhile wheat beer, though given its country of origin you can do far better. I wouldn't shell out 3.80 euro again, but it's likable stuff.

Day 2 of the Costco Calendar. Probably would be a bit more appropriate if i was sitting outside on a warm summer day. Very average.

500 ml can, PRD 07/01/2015 EXP 09/01/2016. Acquired a single can of this stuff as part of a mixed six pack from the local Binny's. Hefe-Weizenbier, with a lot of text in German on the can.

Poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

A - Pours a cloudy pale golden body, about a finger of frothy soapy white head that leaves nice strands of scattered lacing behind. Appears aptly carbonated. Looks very nice for what it is.

S - A fumey, at times grapey sort of aroma. Heavy presence of cloves. Floral, with a mild alcohol tinge and yeast.

T - Taste follows the nose: creamy & wheaty, notes of clove, oranges, & grain.

M - Smooth & easy-drinking. Crisp, with good carb.

Overall, an authentic stab at the style. Recommended for those interested in this style.
