Decided to check out the menu while walking down Houston. In town for conference and didn't want to wait in a block-long line for Katz's. My jaw almost hit the ground when I saw 4-5 Hill Farmstead brews on the tap list.

Had a GREAT time on a recent afternoon at Fools Gold.

Vibe is a small, but long dark bar, reclaimed, shabby, kind of broken down look. But clean, with people enjoying beers and lunch on a weekday afternoon. Wasn't overly busy, but there were enough people that the staff had to be attentive to customers while still setting up for the evening rush.

Quality and selection were both very good. About a dozen NYC area offerings, a few from Hill Farmstead, Founders, and other excellent craft beers.

Service was amazing. Super friendly and helpful staff. We spent quite a few minutes chatting and talking about whatever with a couple of the staff members.

Didn't try the food. But the guy next to me did, and it looked awesome.

Excellent place, I will seek it out the next time I am in NYC.

Always a great selection -- one of the best beer bars in town. The service is usually spot on, the bartenders are knowledgeable about beer, and outside peak hours, a great place to go and have a conversation. It's also a great spot for sports viewing as they have plenty of TVs and are happy to switch to the game of your choice. The food is pretty solid, haven't had a bad meal yet. Not really sure why I'm not here more often than I am.

Seriously great spot for friends who share a love for beer. A throw back to the early days of down and dirty joints from an era far removed from today's investor driven "designed for the now and fabulous spots". The staff is passionate, informative, downright just love beer, and their relationships to the brewers. A true treasure for any beer enthusiast.

A must drink spot in the city.

I visited Fools Gold for the first time for Zwanze 2016, so obviously this was a big/busy day for them. Overall I was very impressed by the way they handled the event. Focusing on the bar itself, it's a very cool space, a long room with a very long bar, and enough seating area to handle a very large crowd...even on Zwanze Day showing up at 2pm as I did, not once was I cramped or getting elbowed by anyone else. Everything on tap is well displayed on the board behind the bar. I'm not sure what the list is like on a normal day, but I assume it's very good and diverse. This day, other than Cantillon, there were many choices from Crooked Stave, Cascade, and the like. Service, again, was spot on. Plenty of people behind the bar, and all doing their jobs. The music was extremely loud, but they sure got all the orders in with no problem. I would love to come back to this place on an off day, and perhaps next time I'm in the City, I'll do just that.

Shitty staff with a very mediocre selection. Sad for NYC

The taplist selection always gets me in here. It's always on point. If you come during lunch or happy hour, that's your best bet as the prices are as good as can be. Otherwise this place can be a bit pricey.

Again, taplist is on point. Samples are always allowed if you're noncommittal or unsure. The servers are a bit of a pain but will ultimately accommodate you.

The food here isn't the most mind-blowing but they have really good prices on their lunch specials which offer food and a beer. Really hard to beat those prices.

This bar really has it all, one of the premiere beer bars in NYC, gets to play host to events like Cantillon day, and even a Hill Farmstead tap takeover. Always an excellent selection, prices aren't bad, usually fair or what's in line with other beer bars. When a keg or bottles/cans of something that's known to sell out fast hits the city, you can rely on them to get it. Food is really solid too.
