330ml bottle - just some straight-up 'American hops' in this one - though I do like the green sky background motif on the label.

This beer pours a hazy, medium apricot amber colour, with one finger of anemically puffy, loosely foamy, and weakly bubbly ecru head, which leaves a few instances of bleeding land bridge lace around the glass as it quickly blows off.

It smells of bready and doughy caramel malt, muddled domestic citrus fruit, a bit of earthy yeastiness, and some tame leafy, piney, and perfumed floral green hop bitters. The taste is gritty and grainy pale malt, a lesser caramel/toffee sweetness, stewed citrus rind, hard to pick out tropical fruit notes, musty yeast, and more earthy, leafy, and wet pinecone verdant hoppiness.

The carbonation is fairly average in its wan-seeming frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and mostly smooth, as the hops don't trip up that much whilst prancing across my various palates. It finishes off-dry, the base malt and somewhat complex fruitiness lingering on without a care in the world.

Overall, this is a proficient enough version of the style, with perhaps a minor lacking in that je ne sais quoi that one gets from imbibing in the real West Coast (USA) deal. Easy to drink on its own merits, but not at 7 bucks a serving, no way, Jose (or whatever the Estonian equivalent is).

Reviewed from notes taken in Tallinn in Summer 2014.

IPA. 6.50% ABV. Cost was 3.90 euro for a 33cl draught pour.

HEAD: 2 and a half fingers worth of white foam. Fluffy and soft in complexion, with a smooth uneven consistency as served in a stem-tulip. Consistent lacing coats the sides of the glass as the head recedes. Good (~5 minute) retention. Nice creaminess and thickness.

BODY: Translucent copper gold colour of average vibrance. No yeast or sediment is visible within.

Appears well-carbonated. Not a unique or special looking brew, but it's nice for the style. I'm looking forward to trying it.

AROMA: Melon, mango, tropical fruit. Pale malts, Sweet bread. Grapefruit citrus zest. Light onion.

The hop choices seem interesting though not ideal. I'm curious to try it.

A pleasant aroma of moderate aromatic intensity.

TASTE: Mango, melon, pale malts, tropical fruit, a kiss of sweetbread, faint onion, some tangerine citrus zest. The hop bitterness is well balanced by the malts.

Above average depth of flavour. Average duration and intensity of flavour. Has ample cohesion to its build. The fruity hops are the highlight for me. Enjoyable fare; I like it. But it does lack the nuance, intricacy, and subtlety of execution observed in the best expressions of the style.

TEXTURE: Smooth, wet, somewhat refreshing. Slightly overcarbonated. Medium-bodied. Fairly thick. Complements the taste generally well.

Not oily, gushed, hot, boozy, astringent, harsh, rough, or scratchy.

OVERALL: Downable but largely unremarkable. Not a stand-out IPA by any means. Priced highly by Estonian standards. I wouldn't get it again.

Low C+ (3.03) / ABOVE AVERAGE

Keg at the Port Street bar
Great looking beer light brown body perfect thick slightly off white head
big candied peel and citrus aroma
real intense hops heading beyond menthol almost into liquorice gums
but cold cold keg gives not much else and seemed a tiny bit thin for the strength
despite no real malt quite tasty

Hazy amber color with off-white head. I get dank hops and butter on the aroma. Taste is also hoppy, dank and soapy. Body is soft and well carbonated. Bitter aftertaste with grapefruit notes. Not bad but flawed.

Pours a cloudy golden color. The head poured to about 1 finger high then subsides into a nice lacing. The nose is strong citrus, especially a lot of grapefruit. There is a strong pine and grapefruit taste with a strong carbonation that still goes down smooth.

Intense hint of raspberry and a bitter aftertaste

Clear dark orange body and a off-white head.

Pine, grass, and grapefruit. Gets a touch tropical with some mango and lychee Citra kind of thing going on.

Smooth and medium bodied with pronounced bitterness.

Super solid IPA that fits in with the American stuff.
