Got this one from my neighbor for my 40th birthday. Cheers!

From a bottle into a snifter
Best before 23 November 2019

APPEARANCE: Black pour yields a 1+ finger, medium-thicker looking, creamy tan head with excellent retention. Black body with touches of carbonation evident. Head recedes to a full, creamy cap and clings to the glass. A swirly, splotchy wisp remains leaving touches of lacing down the glass. Thick and black with a nice looking head. Good stuff.

SMELL: Big nose of roasted malts, creamy coffee, dark, pure chocolate, vanilla cream and some delectable fudge brownies. Bold and really enticing. Vanilla covered chocolate brownies dipped in espresso.

TASTE: Roasted malts, creamy vanilla and espresso, dark chocolate and brownies up front. Delicious. Some alcohol at the swallow, moving into a bold finish of creamy coffee, vanilla, bitter dark chocolate and espresso, roasted malts and decadent fudge brownies. Really delicious and desert-like. Lovely.

PALATE: Fuller body with slightly lower levels of carbonation. Creamy and smooth on the palate, enough weight, goes down silky with a bit of a burn at the swallow and finishes sticky on the palate. Some heat lingers.

OVERALL: This is excellent. Totally delicious and decadent at every turn. The best non-BA Pohjala to date and maybe the best imperial stout to have come out of Europe. Roasted, chocolaty and lots of character in this one. Totally delicious. Well worth checking out if you happen to find it. Highly, highly recommended.

Thanks to JLindros for sharing this.

A - Poured into a Kate the Great tulip a nice dark black hue with a thin mocha head that fades to leave light wisps and a thin blanket.

S - Big aromas of char, smoke, dark fruits, black licorice. Really nice malts and roast with a little alcohol burn.

T - Taste is similar to the nose, just very sweet. Almost cloy. Nice char and sweeter dark fruits. Good black licorice here too, but the fruits here are really nice. The finish is on the cloy side sadly. The alcohol is non existent though!

M - Mouthfeel is lightly carbonated, rather low. The alcohol is masked phenomenally.

O - Overall this was a very solid Russian imperial stout. Really complex but unfortunately overly sweet.

Aggressive pour yields a mild fizzy dark bubble head but fades quickly, some decent legs on the glass though, inky black and stains the glass, midnight pitch black color

Nose incredibly dark malts, roasted malts, intense roast and dark chocolate, cocoa syrup, not acrid or burnt and even a little vanilla like, little char and bitter aroma, mild marshmallow nougat, light spices and licorice like, mild alcohol not quite fusel but almost there

Taste sweet, quite sweet, milk chocolate and semi sweet, a little spice from the roasted malts, a touch roasty but not burnt or charred, smooth caramel and dulce de leche, little toasted almost stale bread but not quite there, little bitter hops and bitter roast notes, mild creamy milky notes, mild alcohol in the exhale mostly, mild spices and a little licorice, fair sweet finish but not too sweet still cloying, sticky too

Mouth is fuller bod, smooth rich creamy although cloying sweet but almost no alcohol perception, light carbonation

Overall mixed, the crazy cloying sweetness really detracts from it, but other than that is a nice beer, alcohol is hidden really well

Served in a snifter glass from the bottle.

Appearance: Thin black body with a deep dark tan head coming off quarter inch off the body.

Smell: Chocolate scent. Brown sugar gets to your nose just a little bit.

Taste: Sweet molasses coming off with a subtle espresso and deep malt and barley feel.

Mouth: full bodied brew, sweet finish and an after taste that just sticks with you.

Overall: Awesome brew, let it warm up a bit it will catch lusting the beer within two sips.

12 oz bottle split into two glasses. Very dark black color with no head from the pour at all. Licorice, dark berries, cherry, some vanilla, some coffee and a slight amount of nuttiness. Alcohol is present in the taste as well but is hidden by the abundance of other flavors. Cherry and alcohol dominate the scent. Alcohol is heavy on the tongue and this beer leaves a warm feeling in my chest. Alcohol starts getting a little stronger as the beer warms. This is a SIPPER. Decent beer, but a little too much going on for my tastes.

330 ml bottle into snifter, best before 11/16/2019. Pours dense pitch black color with a small dense tan head with solid retention, that reduces to a thin spotty lace cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, vanilla, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, licorice, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, leather, tobacco, wood, herbal, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, light-moderate fruity yeast, and light earthy hop notes; with big strength. Taste of huge dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, vanilla, raisin, prune, cherry, fig, date, licorice, and toasted dark bread; with lighter notes of smoke, char, leather, tobacco, wood, herbal, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Very mild herbal/woody hop and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, molasses, toffee, vanilla, dark fruit, licorice, toasted dark bread, leather, tobacco, light smoke/char, wood, herbal, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, light-moderate fruity yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; with a nice roasted bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying/acrid flavors after the finish. Light carbonation and very full body; with a very smooth, creamy, silky, slick, and velvety mouthfeel that is fantastic. A touch syrupy; minimal chalky roast or dryness. Minimal warming alcohol for 13.6%. Overall this is a fantastic English styled imperial stout! All around outstanding complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, light-moderate fruity yeast, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and dangerously easy to sip on for the huge ABV. Absolutely insanely rich/complex malts; with great complementing dark fruity yeast complexity that never overwhelms that rich malt profile. A highly enjoyable offering.

Dark brown-brown color, dense texture, almost non-existent foam.
Complex smell: coffee liqueur, cherries in alcohol, cognac, oak.
It surprises you with a well-formed and pleasant consistency, initially sweetness and the feeling of a spirituous beverage. Coffee, sweet, vanilla, marzipan flavors are revealed. A bitter astringency appears along the way and the sensation of a herbal spirit, which also gives the woody aftertaste.
It's not a beer that hides the alcohol degrees, but rather it's like a fine wine after which you know you'll get drunk, but you can't resist it.
To be enjoyed on cold winter day, as advertised on the bottle!

Poured from fridge temp. Pours motor oil black with almost no head. Nose is licorice (lots!), molasses, walnuts, blackberry, marshmallow, and chocolate. Taste is great, but the sweetness comes across as a bit syrupy. Thus my lower score for taste. I'm getting a lot of sweetness, chocolate, and coffee. Roasted notes for sure. The complete lack of carbonation was a bit off-putting on this beer, and that's not always the case for me. Mouthfeel was thick and creamy - really nice.

L: Velvety smooth texture and opaque black colour
S: Surprisingly almost none. Some sweet vanilla is lurking
T: Enormous sweet flavour: raisins, caramel and other toffees
F: Nice warm mouthfeel, could have been better with more bitterness at the end
O: Worth trying, but more like a liquor than a beer to be honest; lacking hops bitterness

L: Jet black color, quarter finger brown head, messy lacing, no visible carbonation.

S: Sweet, vanilla, coffee, dark chocolate, raisins, alcohol.

T: Very sweet, raisins, vanilla, coffee, dark chocolate.

F: Full bodied, yet quite drinkable.

O: Perhaps very sweet but still very good imperial stout. Would gladly drink on any occasion.

Black color with mocha head. Aroma is quite malty, boozy, slightly smoky and also has some say fruits in the background. Taste starts sweet and fruity up front, not very roasty but it has a slight smoky note. Just a slight bitterness on the finish but overall it's a really sweet stout. Smooth mouthfeel, quite nice but really to sweet for my taste.
