Dark brown color with brown head. Aroma has coconut, cardamon, quite spicy with some astringent cacao. Taste follows with spiced chocolate, rum, coconut, a bit acrid but just a hint. Light roasty bitterness on the finish. Full bodied with smooth mouthfeel. Overall it's a really enjoyable beer with nice flavors.

Pours a very dark color with a small top of light brown head. Deep aroma of roasted malts, cardamom, vanilla, coconut, milk chocolate, coffee and wild berries. The flavour is really great. Deep roasted malts with medium sweetness. A lot of hints of vanilla, cocolatte and cardamom in the flavour. It finishes of sweet with a slight bitterness to balance it out and with the roasted feel nice in the back.Long and nice aftertaste that last for a good time. Mouthfeel is smooth and oily, and the alcohol is really good masked. Full bodied with a medium carbonation.
This was an amazing Baltic porter. All from the look to the feel is done right, and i enjoyed it to the max. A real sipper to be enjoyed in a slow pace.

Saw the ABV on this beast and definitely noticed the need to have this in some sort of of stemware.
And so I opted for a snifter.
The appearance was a dark brown close to black color with a fizzy little head that swiftly slid off to leave no lacing.
The aroma makes up for the lack of appearance, a rounded sweet coconut slides into some lactose then a stiff semi-spicy cardamom floral earthiness. Mild coca cola slid in underneath but definitely quite nicer than alot of Baltic Porters from European brewers. Mild milk chocolate with a touch of dark chocolate and then some chocolate cake-like substance.
The flavor yields to the sweetness initially and develops a kind roast with some coffee but allowing that coca cola mild sweetness come through over some vanilla-like sweet substance. Mild aftertaste of coca cola, roasty coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla and chocolate cake.
The mouthfeel felt nice. I'd say about medium bodied, perhaps just a touch under yet still having a fine semi-sticky refined sweet sipping quality about it. Carbonation felt good. ABV felt on par. Finish was semi-sticky with a sweet coca cola-ish character about.
Overall, very good and creative as is. Might be my first from this brewery and also my first from Estonia, but I'd come back to this.

Poured into a Stone tulip. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with a slight head that dissipates to tiny patches and slight lacing. Aroma of sweet dark malt, vanilla and coconut. Flavor is dark toasted malt, coconut, light vanilla, milk chocolate, developing a nice light char with hints of cardamom and cocoa in the finish. Medium bodied with light creaminess and good carbonation despite quiet pour. An excellent flavored porter with a nice balance in the vanilla and coconut adjuncts and a good lightly charred malt base. The char shows up more in the finish where it melds with coconut, cardamom and light chocolate flavors. Everything is in great balance and the finish is fine. ABV well hidden. The dark fruit flavors that are typical in this style are light and perhaps masked by the coconut and cardamom, but this tastes nice enough that it is a flavorful and memorable Baltic porter.

Dark brown with a really nice and thick foamy head.
Chocolate and coffee smell.
The taste is also dominated by the coffee/chocolate notes, with some vanilla, marzipan and little coconut. Some spices (might be cardamon, as advertised) also.
Expresso feel and aftertaste.
Again a nice surprise from Pohjala.

One of the beers that lingers long in the memory. The dark appearance with a toffee tinged top makes the mouth water in anticipation of the goodness to come The smell is complex and sweet, with coconut, coffee and spice to the fore. The taste is well worth the wait, with a dense mouthfeel. In addition to the sweetness of the vanilla and coconut there is a balance provided by clever hopping that provides a lingering resinous bitter note. Thick and warming, this is a late night tipple to be sipped slowly and savoured.

Looking to classic English styles for authentic but imaginative charm, Pohjala Brewery goes the way of baltic porter for a dark and usually moderately strong ale that flirts with imperial stout.

Dark brown and largely opaque, the roasty ale builds a rich tan lather that brings a robust scent of burnt toast, cocoa, coffee coconut, dark fruit a mild smoke. Sweet and roasty, the porter opens up with a scorched molasses maltiness with burnt cream, walnut and dark chocolate settling closely behind.

Its rich and roasty taste brings on stout proportions before relaxing for a taste of coffee grounds, baker's chocolate, walnut, toasted coconut and grilled dark fruit. Broadly bitter on the late palate, the porter reels in the taste of black cherry, blackcurrant, plum and red grape for a spicy finish of plum wine and coffee.

Medium full in body, the beer's texture gives in to a flat cola consistence as those wine, plum and vodka spices tease the throat. A long linger of cocoa, coffee and ash last nearly into the next sip.

On tap in Milan.

Thick tan head with lace. Dark brown black color. Of all the adjuncts the coconut shows the most. Roasted malts and vanilla. Cocoa and Hershey’s syrup. Smooth and creamy. Nice body. An awesome Baltic Porter. Drinks like a stout.
