This is the beer I've been looking for. It has everything you need in a beer: malt, tartness, diverse bretty notes, barrel, enough malt that you can taste it, but not so much that it's taking the stage, and a kick ass label.

Hope they keep this one going! Just as good if not better than Jester King brews straight outta Austin

Pours a very hazy golden color with a 2-3 finger width foamy head. Head retention is decent as is lacing. Strong Brett aroma with some citrus and red wine aroma. Very appealing. Strong Brett taste at the beginning with some peppery spiciness. Can taste more of the wine and slight citrus at the end. There is some hoppiness involved. Brett yeasty aftertaste. Very impressive saison, probably my favorite.

Batch 002 (Bottled on 4/24/2015). 750mL bottle poured into a snifter. $11 at Specs.

Nice funky farmhouse aroma. The taste is very fruity with wine flavors along with a nice tartness and barnyard funk. The Brett is obvious, but not overwhelming, and the farmhouse base flavors are present. I really pick up on the oak from the barrel on the finish, which is refreshing and dry. No issues with carbonation.

Overall, a great barrel-aged saison. And for the price, one of the best values for this style.

Poured into an Adelbert's snifter glass. Bottle batch 001, bottled 10/27/14

LOOK: Straw colored, cloudy, about a 1/4 inch head with medium lacing

SMELL: Lemon, barnyard funk, wheat, a little coriander, nice wild ale smell, very Belgian

TASTE: Really great sour, mild on the acidity, lemon-citrus with more of that sour barnyard funk, nice acidity in there with a decently dry finish. The red wine barrels really play nicely on the beer and the Brett funkiness. It's not a harsh sour by any means but doesn't disappoint a sour lover either.

MOUTHFEEL: Was a little concerned at the lack of head that there may not be much carbonation going on here...not to worry. There is a very nice spritziness that matches perfectly with the sour lemon character of the style. It's thick enough to let you know this is real beer, but light enough to not weigh down the palate.

OVERALL: Excellent offering from Oddwood. I like Adelberts and have enjoyed them many times, but only their specialty beers ever really stopped me in my tracks. This one from Oddwood makes me stop and stand up a bit. Will certainly become part of my rotation, and if I try to get a friend in to sours, I will most definitely be presenting this as a nice representation of the sour farmhouse style.

Really well-balanced saison with a pretty yellow color, good clean head and nice carbonation, really nice funky aroma, great Brett taste, and a frankly excellent finish.

hazy yellow golden, almost white head. well carbonated. smells cirtusy, lemon, a little funky. taste is tropical fruits (pineapple, melon), little hay/straw, ends tart with light lemon pith. not a lot of wood character. easy drinking, dry. overall a really well done farmhouse beer.

Tons of funk, just the right amount of tart, some citrus and brett making this saison complex and delicious. Very intrigued to see what Oddwood does now they are split from Adelberts because frankly I believe Oddwood is doing the most interesting and best beer in texas outside of Jester King. This saison is on the level of many of the Hill Farmstead saisons and reminds me of Anna in many ways.

oh this is nice! perfect balance, tons of funk and brett presence. lemon/citris rind flavor and again perfect balance. this is legit. Wine is there in spirit, not too overboard but flavorful. This should be the standard on saisons, just great stuff right here.
