Poured from a bomber into a Guinness-style glass
L- Pitch black with great carbonation and thick, mocha head.
S- Expected smell of chocolate, coffee, vanilla, and caramel. Simple yet effective.
T- Same as smell with hints of dark fruit (maybe dates). Also has a slight smokiness and soy sauce flavor but in a good way.
F- Creamy, bubbly, with a nice dry finish. Flavor on your palate is long-lasting.
O- This is a solid example of what a good stout is. It is nothing extraordinary but it does the basics well. Very accessible stout and a good intro for new beer drinkers.

Pours a clear black with neat two fingers of creamy mocha coloured head.
Nose is roasty - slightly burnt toast, coffee, chocolate, hints of caramel and vanilla and just a touch smokey.
Tastes of grainy chocolate malt, some sweetened coffee, again hint of vanilla, roasty, some weedy, leafy hop bitterness.
Smooth medium mouthfeel with brisk carbonation - coffee and dark chocolate bittersweetness hangs around briefly.

Beautiful tan creamy 1/2” head that fades quickly.

Quite dry and light bodied, but carbonation also makes the mouthfeel fuller and fluffy.

Roasted malt character dominates, almost ashy, with very slight burnt toast character. Some dark chocolate, and a barely perceptible sweetness of malted milk balls candy.

The high carbonation endows this with a bigger body than it otherwise would be at 5% abv. Also there is a slight metallic flavor. And there is a hint of a dark fruit sweetness of prunes but it escapes in the flavor.

There is a pleasant residual smokiness and bitterness that lingers in the aftertaste, almost as after a cigar. Yet, the bitterness is not overpowering and the stout can even be compared to Guinness.

Pours dark with a dark oak head. Head lasts about a minute or more, expected of an oatmeal stout. Taste is pretty on par with what is advertised: "coffee, chocolate & mystery"
Heavy notes of chocolate, coffee, small layer of smokiness and licorice.
Mouthfeel - initially thick, dissipates rather quickly leaving you with a dry finish but a lingering flavor of wood and coffee.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown, opaque black in the glass with a half finger light brown head with good retention and moderate lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, cocoa and chocolate. Flavor follows, with dark toasted malt with a suggestion of char, light cocoa and good drip coffee notes. Finishes with toasted malt, mocha and a slight metallic tang that like that last sip of coffee late in the day. Medium bodied with a little creaminess; a bit thin for an oatmeal stout, but the oatmeal does give it a little more heft than expected for a 5% stout. I agree with the other reviewers; my first reaction is "dry or foreign stout profile", rather than an oatmeal stout, but the oatmeal is detectable in the smoothness and moderate body. And as a dry stout, it is quite nice. I'd like to see a bit bigger version of this, and if they made one, I'd definitely check it out. Good introduction to the brewery.

A- Pours an opaque black/dark brown color with a creamy head that starts out about 2 fingers thick.....it dissipates into a thick ring around the liquid, is caramel colored and has large soapy bubbles within. Carbonation is not noticed as the beer is too dark but lacing is frothy, thick and clingy on the side of my glass.....a nice looking stout!!

S- Heavy dark chocolate is noted right away, followed closely by dark roast coffee and hints of smoke, Earth, malt sweetness, roasted/charred wood and a robust finish....very nice!

T- Flavors follow the aromas very well, and I think the coffee comes out more than the chocolate but both remain very well balanced! Toasty brown sugar/molasses sweetness, charred malt, hints of licorice and cocoa powder, and the finish is Earthy dry and cleansing! Nice flavors overall!

M/O- The oats provide a nice medium body and velvety carbonation....I like it quite a lot! The drinkability factor is high and I would recommend it....love the chocolate/coffee character and it is somewhat dessert like. I could enjoy a couple of these over a session. Recommended!

Got on trade! 650ml bottle served at 8deg C I a tulip

A- Opens well and pours a tiny head that is gone in a minute or two. Rather dark brown colour

S- Not a lot and it's metallic. Not good

T- Chocolate is coco and chalky. Some coffee. All subdued. Very mellow like a Guinness. I don't much care for Guinness.

M- Slightly creamy going down and dries right out quickly

O- Not a bad brew. Just not my cup of tea.

Food Pairing

This light easy drinking stout went well with...... Cherries!

Enjoy!
