Bottle, batch 3, from Feb 2018.

A clear orange with a dense, white head that falls off to a disk leaving little lacing, this looks solid. The nose is pleasantly smoky with an earthy, mildly meaty note. A blend of fennel, mint, a little Brett notes are present. The palate opens moderately smoky, with a pleasant smoldering wet leaf and heavily toasted oak stave character. This is followed by a delicate Brett note of mild clove and saison-like delicate spice notess (white pepper). Grainy wheat is present. A mild honey note adds a fruitiness to the palate. A firming, mildly minty hop character is present as well. Light in body and with a lingering smoke note on the finish, this beer is moderately carbonated.

Enjoyable, inspired yet disjointed, this beer is both, a pleasure and frustrating. Recommended for those who like the style.

Bottle from Modern Liquors. Hazy, pale golden, high foamy head fades to small cap. Funky fruity, tart aroma, leads into smoky grainy taste. Not what I was expecting. Labelled as a Gratzer, so it harks back to an earlier time. White grapes, ashy grains, tart and smoky. Give it a while. Initial assault is tempered with time and temperature.

On tap at Rattle n Hum, NYC. Wonderful surprise. Never heard of the brewer or the style. The oakey smokiness was familiar from other products but is nicely worked in here with a touch of sweetness.

Starts with a pale yellow haze & very lively head & settles with average lacing.

It's hard to ignore the oak on the nose, but it is so gentle I didn't mind it at all.

A very manageable 5% ABV caps this inviting & friendly pint.

Had in on draft. Light and cloudy with a white head. Nicely carbonated. Wonderful taste for summer. Not overly sour or smokey. Well balanced. Brings back pleasant memories of sitting around the campfire. Well worth the trying.

16.9oz bottle. Pours a pale milky straw color with an inch of frothy white head. Funky, sour aroma. Citrus, bready with lots of yeast. Slight amount of smoke in the taste but I get more oak and vanilla. Earthy with a cherrywood finish. Funky and sour at times but not overly tart. Pine hop notes towards the end as well. Lots of carbonation. I was hoping for a bit more smoke flavor. An odd blend of flavors here. It tastes a bit more Farmhousey to me than a Smoke Beer but it's an interesting take. Overall, I probably won't be buying it again but I'm not disappointed I tried it.

I really dig this beer. Pale golden color with a bright white foamy head that leaves a lot of lacing. Citrus aroma with bready notes. No smoke in the nose, but that changes with the taste. Very nuanced smokiness compliments a farmhouse style ale with citrus and resin notes. Feel is fantastic. Very aggressive carb that is soft yet crisp. The smoke is just right and the finish is clean and dry. Overall this is a cool beer that i would definitely drink again.

The aroma hits of gentle smoke, light grain, wheat, wet smoke.

The flavor offers smoke upfront, a light mouthfeel, it lingers with a bit of smoked wood on the finish, there's some wet smoke notes that follows with a gentle bitterness and prickly mouthfeel.

500 mL bottle. Hazy pale yellow. Smell is wheaty and lactic. A bit of smoke. Taste is extremely wheaty. Light lemon tartness. Mild smoke. Light body. Not bad, but not exciting.

On tap at The Beer Belly in Albany, NY.

This one pours a light straw yellow, with a small head, and no lacing.

Smells like mild smoke, and a bit of funk. Kind of a non-descript aroma on this one, not super expressive.

This is the first Kent Falls beer I haven't been super impressed. I expect a smoked sour to be smoky and sour, and this was light in both regards. The smoke was very light, and the beer wasn't really all that sour. Just kind of bland.

This is light bodied, with a crisp mouthfeel, and good level of drinkability, despite the fact I didn't like it all that much.

Kind of boring stuff here. I don't have much experience with this style, but I have had a few examples I've enjoyed. This isn't one of them.

Drinking it on tap in Danbury at Pipa's. Kent Falls makes some beers that I flat out hate but also some exciting beers that I love. This is the latter- delicious, interesting and fresh as it's made 40 mins away or so. Love the unique style, wonderful mouth-feel, just enough funk.

Had a glass at Astoria Bier & Cheers on Broadway. I didn't get any smoke out of this, but it was a fine farmhouse ale — very bright and crisp with a dry finish after lightly toasty wheat malts.

Always nice to see another gratzer from an American brewery. Served on draught at the Ginger Man NYC.

Aroma brings dried lime/lime skin, grassy Noble hops, and restrained smokiness.

Pilsner malts provide the backbone. Nods towards funkiness in the yeast profile, but it's not full on brettanomyces; certainly sacch was utilized also.

Smokiness is in the background, bringing no harshness or acridity.

Overall, a balanced mellow gratzer with high drinkability. Solid work from Kent Falls in an archaic style. I look forward to trying their other offerings.

Look is a hazy pale yellow.
Smell and taste are very interesting. Smoke is definitely noticeable, but it's subtle, sharing prominence with the earthy hops and saison farmy-ness. Really well-balanced, not overly smoked. Great smooth mouthfeel, again light enough and well balanced.

Again, I really like this beer - had it on tap at the bar and next week saw it in a store and bought a bottle. Definitely looking forward to more from Kent Falls.

Batch 1, bottled 12/15. Poured from the 0.5L bottle into a wine glass, this Grodziskie comes out a very light straw color, hazy, with a one finger head that dies down to a ring. Smell is bready, not very sweet, with hints of smoke on the back. Flavor starts with the cracker-like malt, middle is smokey (moreso than the aroma), and finishes with a leafy and earthy hoppiness. Feel is light, slightly dry.

Overall the best Grodziskie I've had so far, very well executed. I think the hoppiness was well done with the Tettnanger just showing itself at the end.

appearance- Very pale golden in color and a little cloudy. Pours a soapy two finger head.

aroma- Some smoked malt, spicy yeast, and some lemon/lime citrus.

taste- Dry at first with some smoked malt and citrus most prevalant. Towards the finish the saison characteristic shows more with a little spice. Finishes with the smoked malt, which is very mild throughout, and again some citrus (leaning towards lemon).

feel- Medium carbonation, light/medium bodied, dry and crisp in the finish.

overall- Very interesting combination of ingredients with a saison with smoked malts. Essentially a solid saison with lemon and spicy yeast flavors, and then some lightly smoked malt thrown in. It works, and its worth trying. Definitely would make a good summertime steak pairing.

Really interesting brew. Kind of hard to wrap your head around a beer that looks like a pale ale with something that smells a little bit like a camp fire. Pretty easy to drink, regardless. I got some grassy notes, some lemon, the malt bill was nice and light despite the smoke character. I didn't get much in the way of pine but there is definitely an earthy sort of grounded base to the grains. I was a little concerned after I started drinking this that I would fatigue on the smoke but it was actually deceptively easy to drain the glass. Still haven't had anything but great beer from Kent Falls, still amazed at what they are doing for a new brewery.

It's certainly a smokey beer. Light yellow hazy color. Scent and taste are like smoked bacon. Dry finish. Nice representation of the style. Would have again. Cheers!

Batch #1, Bottled on: 12/15

Look: Very very pale yellow beer with a small fluffy head that dissipates to a slight film with a little fluff on the rim. Eventually fades to nothing Deceivingly opaque for its shade.

Smell: There's a very slight smoke character mixing perfectly in with the wheat and the saison yeast spiciness. Lemon & spice.

Taste: Subtly and balance reign supreme here. IMO, there's really not enough smoke character to label this a smoked beer, this is a saison, and a complex and interesting one at that. As the beer warms, the smokey meatiness comes through a bit more pronounced, especially on the finish.

Feel: Prickly, dry, practically perfect for the style. Great carbonation as well.

Overall: I wasn't sure what to expect here with the smoked malt, but I'm quite impressed. There's a subtle element of meaty smoke mixing deliciously with the wheat, KF's saison yeast, and the spicy/earthy/piney flavors of Tettnanger hops. Excellent beer here; definitely a stand out brew from Kent Falls.
