Notes: A bright, citrusy Double IPA with a deceptively light body and dry flavor. To compose this brew, we borrowed techniques used by Belgian brewers to achieve a big beer without much sweetness. The Citra dry hop gives this beer its bright citrus notes and aroma.

Think Tree House "Bright" but without the line and at a fraction of the price. WTF . This beer at $10.99/six-pack has turned my package-store beer assumptions upside-down. I never write reviews for anything. Ever. If you like Tree House or Trillium or Lawson's, save yourself some money and buy this. You will not be disappointed. $10.99????? They could sell this for $4/can. I have nothing else to say.

My goodness, what a beer! No canning date, though, c'mon! Looks like a NE IPA but drinks like a West Coast IPA, which is fantastic because I haven't had one in so long. Reminds me of my years in Arizona. A tropical fruit bomb! Both the nose and flavor are full of sticky, dank, resinous hops. Super smooth, creamy, delicious finish. A really outstanding beer. And $9.99 for a 6-pack of 12oz. cans!! Are you serious?!

And the get fresh flow... anyways no date on the can

Pours a thicker creamy 1 finger head that fades slowly with great lacing, super murky orange pale color.

Nose juicy hops, floral fruit, musty guava, citrus clementine orange, generic tropical fruit, a little pith and some grassy notes, a little creamy malt, passion fruit, grapefruit notes, a touch of fruity esters almost banana like, a touch lemony and rind.

Taste brings big juicy hops, tropical mostly, guava, some passion fruit, a hint of pineapple like, a bit grassy and floral, a little pith and some tangerine orange etc, creamy malt, a touch toasty creamy oats, a hint of booze if any, and some fruity esters. Finish is drier, a little creamy malt, creamy oats, pith and lingering tropical fruit.

Mouth is med bod, creamy, fluffy carb, no real booze.

Overall really nice, good hop profile, good malt and oat profile, no real booze, enjoyable, really surprised about this one.

Got this in a recent trade.

Lovely bright, but entirely opaque amber colored body. Head is fluffy and 1/2 finger, then fades to moss on the top.

Big, juicy aromas of papaya, mango, and citrus fruits. I can feel the acid hitting my nostrils. Some dry grain underneath all of that.

This flavor profile is just incredible. The alcohol presence makes it slightly hard to drink, but it's enjoyable the whole way through. Big mango, grapefruit, and cantaloupe burst forth, and then a formidable herbal presence violently pushes it aside, bringing big flavors of rosemary, grass, peppery pine, and parsley to center stage. Last but not least, the alcohol burn comes forward with just a hint of super glue (I'm sensitive to this flavor, fyi) and a bite of orange. It's literally a step-by-step as it glides across your palate. A small deduction from the super glue/rubber cement astringency, but otherwise it's solid.

Feel is carbonated, so carbonated I'm surprised the can didn't spontaneously explode. But that carbonation rides through 3/4 of the way and drops off to a nice dry, slightly resiny finish. Good.

Overall, I was very hyped about my other beers in this trade, but this "extra" has turned out to be the best so far. Just floored. Wow.

Edit : I'm reading this is only $10-11 a six pack? I'd buy crates of it. This beer is AS GOOD AS the two big hitters up there. Incredible. Could go for $3-4 a can, easily.

I usually drink it from the can. I'm not overly concerned with appearance. This has become the staple in my fridge. So good, every time. Very consistent, which is often not the case. Pretty readily available, and for $11 a six pack. Can't beat it. 6 pack 12 oz is the future. (And the past?) Surprisingly quaffable for a 9.3% beer. I'd challenge that its slightly less. Or maybe my tolerance has increased, similar to my belt size. It's a good time to be a beer drinker. MA is a good place to be a beer drinker.

An exceptional value for $9.69/ 6 pack. This one caught me off guard with its bittersweet profile and very light appearance as well as body. A bit boozy. A very fine beer in its own right but at this price a true winner.

12oz can, sample from the brewery.

Carefully poured yet 1/2 way during pouring chucks enter the glass, lots of floaties in this one. Just a mild haze on this beer. Good looking head and lacing action as well. Nose goes all citrusy, dank, and a little catty ... some alcohol is noticed as well. Juicy, bitter, and warming. Smooth medium bodied brew, big breath of alcohol. Fruity esters, rose water, citrus rind, faint bready maltiness, and some tropical fruit notes is what this beer is about. In the big world of IPAs this one is smack dab in the middle of the pack. The chunks concern me as they all didn't settle out while sampling this brew. Worthy a try? Sure ... why not.

12oz undated can.

Pours cloudy yellow with a moderate head of white and decent lacing. Aromatics are fairly pungent and tropical. Pineapple, pear, red apple, white grape, and melon. Medium bodied with an almost creamy, fairly soft mouthfeel. Plenty of fruit cocktail on the palate with boozy undertones to boot. Rum-drizzled pears, apple, and melon. Zero malt and the bitterness is low. Finishes fairly dry with lingering tropicals and plenty of wafting booziness.

A big, fruity, boozy beer in an small, unassuming can. Great!

Decent starting head which dies slowly. Nice lattice for lace. The liquid is straw colored and cloudy.

Very odd smell that reminds me of canned clams. I don't find it appealing at all. When I smell the can I do get some faint floral hop. Subsequent whiffs from the glass draw out some warming alcohol.

The flavor is a major step up from the smell. There's a smooth and slightly sweet pale malt start. The hop is direct but not harsh. It combines well with the subtle warming alcohol presence. Smooth body with a subtle effervescence. The finish reminds me of white pepper with a moderate length aftertaste.

Appearance: Pours a very hazy goldenstraw with a one finger head; shards of lacing

Smell: Pineapple, lemon/lime, mowed grass and Juicy Fruit

Taste: Lemon/lime flavors forward with the Juicy Fruit and pineapple tones developing; grassy bitterness, through the middle, dry and bitter, through the finish; with fusel alcohol building in the aftertaste

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body with moderate carbonation

Overall: The boozy finish on this beer is a demerit, as the flavor up to that point was rather interesting

Thanks, IndyDad, for the opportunity

A - Pours a medium yellow gold color with alot of tiny floaties suspended in the beer. Very mild carbonation and wide, white soapy, creamy lacing.

S - Pungent, sticky citrus aroma.

T - Bright citrus and light biscuity malt with alot of alcohol on the back end. Nice peppery citrus rind

M - Big medium to full bodied with very gentle and soft texture. The beer eventually builds to a big resiny mouthfeel. Dig it.

O - Big alcohol presence with some nice citrus undertones.

Pours a super hazy pale yellow straw in color with a half finger of white head that rapidly disappears. At first the aroma is incredibly subdued; after searching for a bit I get some grassy hops, onion, cat piss, and a hit of booze. Flavors aren't very distinct but I get generic tropical fruits with a citrus and a pithy bitterness that turns into low-moderately bitter finish. Medium+ body and low-moderate carbonation. Overall this isn't a bad beer but it is a little uneven and the flavors lack definition. I picked up a single 12oz can for $1.99 which is a pretty good price in my book. Despite the decent pricing I just don't think I'd want more than one of these given the ABV and the myriad of other, tastier local options.
