Our Green Street Sour IPA is the sour take on the beloved hop-centric beer Vermont is known for. We focus on a balance of hop and malt flavors with a citric tang from a few days of kettle souring. It's not the jolt to your taste buds that our Flemish Sour Brown provides, but it certainly has a powerful, tart presence to support its hoppiness. We use 100% locally sourced hops from our neighbors at Four Star Farms for their truly excellent aroma and flavor. Are you ready for a new approach to an old style?

Poured from a tallboy can into a snifter, the beer is a hazy, opaque, orange-copper coloring with a thin, low profile, sparse, white head. Aromas of subtle caramel, tart lemon and white grape must, and hints of grassy hops. Flavors are extremely tart forward, with notes of white grape must, lemon tart and sweet, salty notes, grassy hops highlights, a subtle caramel backbone, and bitter hops overtones. Interesting blend, leaning more sour than any IPA characteristics. The body is smooth and robust, with a bitter, crisp, and dry edge. Tart and sour aftertaste, with a puckering feel. The finish is crisp, dry, and that pucker lingers on your taste buds for a bit. Interesting brew. The more I drink, the more I like it.

Can from the brewery labeled as Green SIPA
Brilliant dark gold in color with a good sized frothy white head that slowly recedes. Earthy lemony tartness front and center. Citrus and earthy hops with hints of cherry and earthy woodiness to counter. Complex, really nice.

From an undated 16 oz. can. Sampled Oct 4, 2020.
Attractive orange-amber pour with a fading off-white head. Some chill haze perhaps.
My nose is overwhelmed by overripe pear, cherry, or melon with something akin to green tea leave. Wild yeast abounds.
The mouthfeel is around medium.
Very tart and sour taste. Stylewise, I think this meets the mark but I personally am not a big fan of the style. This my rating.

OMFG! All of my plans have just suddenly taken a turn off of the rails! One unexpected thing segues into the next, into the next, ad nauseum! Jeezum H. Christopher! At least there is one CANstant - The CANQuest (tm)! Viva The CANQuest (tm)! This one closes me out for the time being with this brewery, but look at how far the detour took me. 8=O This must mean that I'm close to being back on track, right? Believe that! ;=)

Being as that this was the CANmination of several days with this brewery, to say that I was excited & CANxious to close things out would be an understatement! I have gained a better understanding of their craft & artisanship, but it was time to move forward & onward. To get there, though, I first had to Crack! open the vent. I beCAN a slow, gentle C-Line Glug since I was curious as to what may lie ahead & I did not want to muddy the waters by being overly aggressive. Color was a gorgeous Deep-Amber/Light-Copper to Copper (SRM = > 13, < 17) with NE-quality clarity. 8=O Nose was heavy on funk, but light on hops, hence my submitting a ChANge request, away from an AIPA. Mouthfeel was medium, but more solid than many (most?) of their previous offerings. The taste was only lightly funky, but it still overrode/overwrote the hops. It may well have been an AIPA at its base, but it was so terribly removed from it that to think of it as such would be a travesty. It was actually one of the more approachable AWAs that I have had in a while with a light funkiness that actually fell somewhere between tart & sour. It really was neither, perhaps due to the hops, but they were overcome by the funk. Man, this was a strange one! Finish was semi-dry to dry, making it all the more pleasant after so many bone-dry beers from them. I really did not know quite how to quantify it, but I did my best. YMMV.

Pours a translucent dark amber (like the color of maple syrup) with a fluffy tan head. Scents of wild yeast funk, vinegar, on the nose. Tastes follow the nose- funk, sour, with a slight hint of hops. Definitely not as hoppy as I anticipated, but a really refreshing sour nonetheless.

A: The beer is very hazy and murky brownish yellow in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that quickly died down, leaving lacing on the surface and a thin collar around around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of sourness are present in the nose with faint hints of cherries.
T: The taste follows the smell, but is much more sour—so sour that the underlying flavors of hops and malts are masked from the taste. There are some notes of cherries and oak with additional hints of vinegar.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied and rather tart on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I didn't really get any hops in the smell or taste so I would consider this to be more of a sour ale than a sour IPA.

I'd say that this beer is mis-classified as an IPA by style. It's definitely a sour on an IPA base, but the hops are pretty far in the background. It's a bit muddy-looking, but as a sour it's a very credible one.
