Formerly called Superf*ckingyawn, the name playfully pokes fun at what can seem like a fixation on big hoppy beers at the expense of other styles. We love hops but prefer not to approach beer solely through the lens of Double IPA. That being said, we believe our take on this style isn't one to sleep on.

Pours a hazy orange. Thick foam. Big juicy tropical fruit body. Very flavorful. Bright malty finish. Slightly sweet. Tastes like excellence.

Appearance: Pours a murky amber color capped by a three finger head; good retention and copious lacing

Smell: Sweet and tropical aromatics with apricot, guava, pineapple and berry elements; it has a candied aspect on the nose

Taste: Candied tropical fruit forward with pineapple and guava pronounced and the apricot/berry element developing; modest bitterness builds, through the middle, bringing a hint of aspirin to the citrus pith; the finish verges sweet

Mouthfeel: Medium to full body; moderate carbonation

Overall: This DIPA leans toward the sweeter side; while there is a nice hop character, I would prefer the bitter elements to be more pronounced

Good looking thick hazy look look on this DIPA. Heavy tropical flavor but much more bitter and sour than than sweet but does have what seems like a candy aftertaste. Pretty enjoyable but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it. Definitely not a 95

Gorgeous look on this 2x IPA. Tang like hazy glory with nice legs. Man that bouquet just slams you with tremendous tropical fruit with overripe papaya, Guava, cotton candy, some pineapple and banana mingling with crushable hops. The flavor falls off but only a little. Most of those notes are there and nice but the alcohol just gets in the way a little, blocking the nuances the nose.

On run to 35th St Ferry out of NYC, at Bread & Butter, best of the selection and a deal at $6 for a 9.4% DIPA.

s) Pine, fresh sawn wood, floral, herbs, sunny coastal slopes.
t) Leafy, hemp, green grass, floral, dried herb, pine sap, and tangerine.

This undated version clocks in with an ABV of 8 3%. Nonetheless, it has the same hops listing, so this should be close to the original. This experience is hosted by the emptying of a pint can into a clear Imperial pint glass. It's wonderful to behold a beer head modest in volume, yet enduring. The color is a pretty orange-amber which is cloudy, but bright. There's a good hop and malt mixed aroma to be had. Let's start with the malt body. It's above adequate and as earthy as it is sweetening. The hop profile runs from slightly dank at the onset, to dry and bitter at the finish. The entire hop experience is more piney than citrusy and that works well with the malt. There's just a little taste of alcohol and even less glass lacing. Overall, this is one fine DIPA, with a great bitter hop finish that should satisfy any hophead.

Pours a hazy orange color. A large billowing head retains well and yields lacing.

The nose opens with sweet malty notes of biscuit, honey and caramel. This is immediately followed by resiny and dank hops that exhibit fruity and floral qualities. Aromas of apricot, peach, mango, guava, pine and grass.

Taste opens with a firm malt backbone that evokes notes of biscuit, caramel and graham cracker pairs with a touch of sweet alcohol spices. However, it soon becomes increasingly resiny and bitter
as the hops take over. Juicy flavors of tropical fruit including mango, guava, and passion fruit coat the mouth. Nicely contrasted by notes of peach, apricot, floral spices, grass, and lots of pine and resin.

Full bodied but with a light on its toes aspect for easy drinking. The mouthfeel is smooth and the finish is dry with notes of alcohol spice and lots of resin. The carbonation is moderate.

Solid DIPA overall that is pretty easy to drink. I would have again.
