I haven't had any canned Threes IPAs yet (in fact, it's entirely possible this is my first time having any of their hoppy beers, though I've definitely previously had at least a couple draft pours of Vliet and a few other lagers they've done), so it's just a Logical Conclusion that this be the first! Jokes aside, a Simcoe/Citra/Mosaic NEIPA clocking in at a nice, safe 7% ABV seems like just the thing I need to wind down after an insane rollercoaster of a day in the US of A... what a mess.
The pour here is a standard, though very nice, NEIPA pour. The liquid in my glass builds up as a stable, hazy yellow-ish color with some hints of an orange juice-like hue appearing as the entire can is poured. I kind of wish this were slightly deeper in color, though; something about how pale it is feels a bit underwhelming to me. The head is really nice here; it's a solid finger-and-a-half that never really goes away nor recedes. It leaves behind some excellent sheets of lace as I sip, however, and the legs are pretty excellent as well. Overall, an "expected" but attractive pour.
Speaking of expectations, I mentioned above that this hop combo is pretty much tough to mess up, and therefore I'm not surprised this smells so damn good. Simcoe brings a huge amount of complexity to the typical "tropical dankness" of Mosaic and Citra by bookending some of those elements with notes of pine, grassiness, earthy spice, and grapefruit rind. The main notes I get are passion fruit, mango, slight green onion, and pomelo. I'm really enjoying the intriguing mix of stuff going on here even though most of it is "by-the-books" when it comes to the hops used.
Flavor is great, too. It's chewy and pillowy by turns with strong elements of grapefruit, mango, ripe guava, bold pine resin, and hints of spice. Mosaic shines here without taking over the entire beer, and I appreciate that. There's a cool synergy between Mosaic and Simcoe, I feel like, where they both express their own kinds of "dankness" in an interesting way; though this is quite citrus-forward, the earthy dankness of Mosaic and the pine-like/coniferous dankness of Simcoe combine on the palate here to give off an almost-mentholated aspect that I don't really recall ever tasting in a hazy IPA like this before. The feel is very soft, perhaps almost to a fault, though it is bolstered by some decent carbonation and a good follow-through in the finish with juuuust enough bitterness to keep it interesting. Looking at the can again, I guess I'm not surprised this was brewed at Singlecut, as it does remind me of some of their beers from a few years ago (e.g. Mo' Shuggie Soulbender). Soft, juicy, complex, and very fun to drink. That's the name of the game here, and I'd play it again.

Pots a hazy gold. Thick foam. Tropical fruit aroma. Super sweet tropical fruit body. Light bitter hop finish. Way too sweet. You can barely taste the hops. Subpar. Very disappointing. My logical conclusion is that this beer is not that good.

Lots of tangerine on the tongue, maybe steering in the mandarine direction. Thinnish mouthfeel, zero head retention. This looks like the result of pouring some Tang into a Coors Light, but I’m digging the taste.

Selection #10 of the 2025 City Brew Tour Christmas Beer box. Pours a slightly hazy gold color with a foamy white head that lasts quite a while. Aroma of orange and grapefuit. Taste is sweet grapefuit. Smooth and creamy.

O: OK, but not memorable;

Cloudy yellow. Medium-sized, white head. Citrus, grapefruit, peach, and some malt in aroma. Juicy with moderate, hoppy bitterness. A decent IPA, but one of too many.
